Question

WHAT IS IT LIKE STAYING AT CAMP?

Answer

The summer camp you're thinking of is probably shelters with no electricity, shared communal bathrooms, open air/tent style, bring your own bedding etc. Obviously, these are not hotels and we want to be quite clear about that. If you are up for staying in cabins, we’d love to have you. Plus, you will be on the camp grounds already for all of our wedding activities. Think of Forest Lake as summer camp meets 'glamping.' Each cabin has electricity with plenty of outlets to charge your phone, modern bathrooms with hot water, all amenities are there! Cabins sleep 6-15 people using all bunk beds and cots. Most of the beds are bunk beds, but we anticipate you should not have to be on a top bunk (unless you want to be!). There are various cabin layouts, some being open rooms and some being more compartmentalized. It's hard to tell you now the exact breakdown until we have all your RSVPs but please let us know if you have any specific questions/concerns. We will spend hours thoughtfully planning cabin assignments to do our best to place all guests with close friends and/or family. The cabins are quite large and there is ample storage. Each cabin has a private bathroom(s) with showers. Bed linens, 1 pillow, 1 pillow case and blankets will also be provided. Of course feel free to supplement with your own items. We will also be supplying hand soap, toiletries, night lights, and (if necessary) space heaters. ‘The Camp & Gallery’ section has pictures of cabins and the property to ensure you can get an idea of the accommodations. *There are also a limited number of private rooms available at camp. We will be reaching out to you individually about your preferences.

Question

WHAT IF WE CHOOSE TO FIND OUR OWN ACCOMMODATIONS BUT PLANNED TO BE ON THE PROPERTY FOR ALL EVENTS

Answer

Although we hope you will stay on the property with us, we also completely understand if it is not for you! Please see the 'Accommodations & Travel' section for more information on housing options. Welcome dinner and reception dinner/drinks are 'on us' If you plan to join in for all additional meals and games/events on the property throughout the weekend; Food & Amenities Only Package = $75/person. (See 'Lodging & Payment' section for payment details)

Question

WHAT IS THE WEATHER LIKE?

Answer

Early September in the Adirondacks is often 'summer-like' during the day (up to the 70s or even 80s) and cool at night (so a light jacket or sweater is recommended for evenings - pack layers).

Question

WHAT IS THE ATTIRE?

Answer

- Welcome Dinner is 'Garden Cocktail' Attire: Wear sundresses, floral prints, suits in lighter hues (No Jeans or Flip Flops). - Wedding Ceremony/Reception is 'Semi-formal Cocktail' attire: Suits/tuxes and cocktail dresses/gowns are welcome. Anything you would typically wear to a late summer/early fall wedding (No Jeans or Flip Flops). - All other meals and events are 'casual' attire. Whatever makes you happy :)

Question

CEREMONY SITE LOCATION

Answer

- Please note that the ceremony site is short 0.25 mile, ~10 minute walk (slight incline) through the woods so please be thoughtful about your footwear choices! - If choosing to wear heels, we recommend more of a 'block heel' over a 'stilleto heel' as it may be more difficult to manage over various surfaces/terrain. Feel free to wear comfortable/supportive shoes up to the ceremony location and change into your reception shoes prior to cocktail hour. **If there are any mobility concerns please note this in the RSVP questions. We will make sure you are driven to the site.**

Question

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

Answer

- Toiletries: shampoo, body soap, etc (travel sized items will be provided in each cabin) - Jacket for chilly evenings - Swimsuit for the lake - A towel(s) - Portable cellphone charger - Bugspray (there will also be some available at camp) - Sunscreen - Sneakers - Flip flops/Sandals - Water bottle

Question

Question

CAN I BRING MY KID(S)?

Answer

As a safety precaution, only children OVER the age of 8 years old are welcome to attend the camp weekend! However, we respectfully ask that the ceremony/reception will be for adults-only (teenagers over age of 13 years old are welcome). We thank you for your understanding! *Baby sitting services can be arrange for the actual wedding ceremony/reception (prior notice needed)* This cost is $30/hour with up to 5 children per sitter. Cost is per hour not per child i.e. $6/hour/per child if sitting 5 children. (Prices are subject to change, but we will update any changes in cost asap). - All sitters have been background checked as they work for Forest Lake Camp - We will ensure each child not at the wedding will receive dinner

Question

I HAVE SPECIAL DIETARY RESTRICTIONS/ALLERGIES. CAN YOU ACCOMMODATE?

Answer

Yes! However, to ensure your needs can be met, it is very important we know in advance! - All meals will include vegetarian options. If you require a vegan or gluten free meal, and/or have a food allergy that we need to be aware of, please fill that out on your RSVP.

Question

SHOULD I RENT A CAR?

Answer

If you are flying in, renting a car and driving to the camp is your best bet. We are more than happy to help you coordinate a pick up/carpool with another guest if able. Just let us know your schedule! - Find additional rental car details in 'Travel' section.

Question

IS THERE CELL PHONE SERVICE?

Answer

Cell phone service can be quite spotty around camp. However, it does exist but it is not consistent, and often varies by carrier (AT&T was decent).

Question

CAN I BRING A DOG?

Answer

Well behaved/friendly pups are welcome at Forest Lake! Please be advised: there are unleashed staff dogs that roam the camp. If you think there is even a chance your dog will have issues with other dogs and/or guests, we ask that you do not risk any problems. Additionally, please ensure your four-legged family member has a pen and/or crate to stay safe in while you are breaking it down on the dance floor! (Please have your dog's rabies vaccination information handy as a precaution). Thank you in advance!

Answer
