We're getting married!

We were on a quest to hike our first 14'er together - the highest peak in Colorado, Mount Elbert - at an elevation of 14,440 feet. We woke up that morning before the sun rose to have our morning caffeine and prepare for the day. Garrett distinctly said "Today is going to be the best day ever!", but he'd never hiked a 14'er before, so I rolled my eyes and carried on. In my mind, he had no idea of what was to come. As we enjoyed our sunrise drive to the trailhead through the mountains, our song started to play. The King of Country had us singing together and holding hands, truly a perfect way to start the day. After 5hrs of hiking, 4.4 miles, 4,458 ft elevation gain, multiple false summits, hardly passing anyone on the trail, and bone chilling winds, we finally reached the peak of Mount Elbert. It was by far one of the hardest hikes I had completed, and at that point, I was very very hangry. I remember that I did not want to be bothered before I had some lunch, while Garrett was as chipper as could be. We huddled behind a big rock to get some relief from the sharp winds and ate our chips and PB&J's. We took in the views and chatted with the few other hikers who had already completed the summit. After a while, we were the last ones on the mountain and the sun was starting to lower in the sky... That's when Garrett asked me to be his Darling forever.
