David had heard of Eleanor for years before they started dating. He was even told by multiple people to ask her out. So, when they eventually met at a wedding between his college roommate and her Ann Arbor housemate, he took his shot. David wanted time between the first few dates to think things through. Eleanor did not. So, they compromised and went on three dates in the first week. They connected instantly, bonding over their love of family, music, and laughter. David enjoyed her cheerful smile, and Eleanor admired his love for life. And birds. He really loves birds. While dating, they did not only fall in love with one another, but they immediately fell in love with each other’s families. Eleanor and David loved spending time with their families as much as going on their many dates: apple picking, carving pumpkins, ice skating, or getting ice cream. As their relationship developed through time together at mass, in adoration, and over-the-phone rosaries, it did not take long for them to realize their vocation in one another. David eventually asked Mr. Dolowy for permission to take his daughter's hand in marriage. Soon after, he asked Eleanor to marry him, and she said yes!
