An incredible vintage store. There are so many amazing clothes and things here and it's massive. It's in this area near the Santa Fe railyard, and very easy to park and check out all the galleries and shops in the area. We have gotten some of the most amazing things in our closet here, ranging from iconic cowboy boots, perfect linen dresses, and a life-changing shearling suede jacket. If there's any store you go to in SF, go here.
The most gorgeous and exquisite jackets... be prepared.
Do you need some cowboy boots for our wedding? Well, this is maybe the best place ever to get a pair. Rooms and rooms of absolute perfection.
You have to make a booking in advance, but this is a mecca for all things vintage. Beautifully curated.
Beautiful indigo blue ceramics. Some of our prized possessions are our bowl-plates from here.
Close to the Georgia O'Keefe Museum, this spot is new and looks super cute - enjoy cocktails/beer in locally made ceramic mugs, and maybe even make some ceramic goods to bring home!
You absolutely must eat classic New Mexican food, which means Christmas chile and blue corn tortilla enchiladas with a side of sopapillas. The Shed is in the downtown area and incredibly popular, we recommend putting your name down and walking around the Plaza to work up your appetite.
SUCH an amazing gastropub style restaurant. The cocktails are great, the mains always slap, and the duck fat caramel ice cream is to die for. We suggest making a reservation in advance.
Great Polish-inspired brunch/lunch spot. Don't miss the bacon date scone.
Kira's favorite drink in the world is here: the Smoked Sage Margarita. You absolutely haven't been to Santa Fe if you haven't had at least one!
Another classic New Mexican joint. They have one of the best and most extensive margarita menus we've ever seen in our life.
A regular haunt of ours, Modern General is slightly further out from the main downtown area, but this spot is great for an easy brunch or lunch. They have savory corn pancakes as well as a pho-posole hybrid soup.
Another regular spot of ours in Santa Fe. Further out from downtown, but they have DELICIOUS African food and a refreshing Mango iced tea. We also love to buy the homemade spices they make. Great for lunch or dinner.
About one hour away from Santa Fe, this is one of the best hot springs resorts we've ever been to! You can either stay in the hotel or do a day pass. There are a variety of baths you can try out - including a mud bath, and a great bath that has little marbles on the floor and it's like getting a foot massage. Kira actually likes Ojo Caliente more than Ten Thousand Waves but don't tell them. If you can, reserve a private bath as well. They have their own little kiva fireplaces and it's so peaceful.
Japanese Onsen meets New Mexico arroyo. A special place. Indulge either by reserving a private bath for 90 minutes or staying at the hotel for the full experience. They also have an izakaya-style restaurant where we saw a bunch of celebrities once.
If you can't make it to Ojo Caliente (approx 2 hours away from Santa Fe), this is their more local version. A great resort where you can stay, or even just buy a day pass and dip. They have thermal pools as well as a saltwater swimming pool.
Georgia O'Keefe and Ghost Ranch are intertwined. Ghost Ranch is an incredible place to visit, and Kira suggests doing the horse back ride tour so you can see many of the exact locations Georgia painted. A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, even for people who aren't "horse" people.
If you can't make it to Ghost Ranch, check out the Georgia O'Keefe Museum which is straight in the plaza, and another must-see in Santa Fe. You must reserve tickets in advance.
Every Saturday from 8am-1pm! It's in the Railyard area so a really nice way to spend the morning.
Canyon Road is a great strip of art galleries and cute shops in Santa Fe, walkable from La Posada. A great and relaxing way to spend an hour or two - there are some great restaurants i as well (El Farol for live music/tapas and dinner, The Teahouse for breakfast/lunch).
A very Kira-friendly hike in case you feel like getting out and at it!
Bandelier National Monument protects over 33,000 acres of rugged but beautiful canyon and mesa country as well as evidence of a human presence here going back over 11,000 years. Petroglyphs, dwellings carved into the soft rock cliffs, and standing masonry walls pay tribute to the early days of a culture that still survives in the surrounding communities. A must see!
Another incredible hot springs about 2-2.5 hours away from Santa Fe. In a super small town, but they are mineral springs. There is a really good roadside restaurant (Los Ojos Restaurant & Saloon) across the street too that has some of the best bbq ribs we've ever had.
