Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Gregory Eacho and Arielle Sorkin
We are so excited to share our favorite corner of the world with you! Bar Harbor, Maine is located on Mount Desert Island (MDI), home to Acadia National Park. From hiking and sailing to shopping and dining, MDI has something for everyone. Below are a few of our personal favorites. First and foremost, check out Acadia National Park! There are lots of great hikes available for all difficulty levels. Penobscot, Bubble Rock, Dorr, and Bee Hive (more challenging) are a few trails that we love. The Island Explorer bus provides transportation from downtown Bar Harbor to park entrance points. The shuttle is free, though they may check for a park pass that you can purchase online. If you do have a car, driving the park loop road offers pretty seaside viewpoints. Please note that some areas require a park pass for vehicles. When you're done hiking, check out some of our additional recommendations below:

Bar Harbor Whale Watch Co

1 West Street, Bar Harbor, ME 04609
, (207) 288-2386

Whale watching, seal watching, and nature tours available!

Mount Desert Island Ice Cream

7 Firefly Lane, Bar Harbor, ME 04609
, (207) 801-4007

Ice cream is competitive in MDI, but we think this might be the best!

Cool As A Moose

118 Main Street, Bar Harbor, ME 04609
, (207) 288-3904

Did you go to Bar Harbor if you didn't get a T-shirt?

Bar Harbor Tea Company

150 Main Street, Bar Harbor, ME 04609
, (207) 288-8322

Arielle buys the blueberry tea in bulk to get through the winter months

Atlantic Brewing Company

15 Knox Road, Bar Harbor, ME 04609
, (207) 288-2337

Jeannie’s Great Maine Breakfast

15 Cottage Street, Bar Harbor, ME 04609
, (207) 288-4166

Abel's Lobster

13 Abels Lane, Mount Desert, ME 04660
, (207) 276-8221

Our favorite lobster roll with a view

Village of Northeast Harbor

Mount Desert, ME 04662

Check out Northeast Harbor for upscale shopping and a pretty harbor view (~15 minutes from Bar Harbor). Our favorite shops for knick knacks include Swallowfield, Main Street Mercantile, and the Kimball Shop. Stop by the the Salt Market for coffee and baked goods, or grab lunch at the Nor'Easter Pound & Market (run by Greg's friend Adam!)

Jordan Pond House

2928 Park Loop Road, Mount Desert, ME 04675
, (207) 276-3781

A great access point for lots of hiking trails in Acadia centered around the beautiful Jordan Pond. If you're looking for a snack we highly recommend the fresh baked Popovers. But be wary, it's packed with tourists!

Thuya Garden

15 Thuya Drive, Mount Desert, ME 04662

A serene garden for the horticulturists

Acadia Outdoor Center

18 Main Street, Mount Desert, ME 04675

Greg's dad Bill says this is the best ice cream on the island (controversial subject). It has good coffee (by Maine standards) and an eclectic collection of outdoors gear for sale, bike rentals, etc. Great spot to rent a bike and have easy access to the park up Jordan Pond Road. Come by if you have a car!

For all the days along the way
