Things To Do

We're excited to share some of our favorite things to do during a weekend in Des Moines! #1 - Gray's Lake If you are looking for a more peaceful and/or active start to your morning Gray's Lake and Waterwork's Park (right across the street) are two great options. Gray's Lake is a 2 mile loop just south of downtown and, as the name implies, circles a lake. You can also rent kayaks, paddle boards and paddle boats from their recreation stand. #2 - PappaJohn Sculpture Park Close to the farmer's market and on the east edge of downtown, the sculpture park is an easy stroll to see some very unique outdoor art pieces. The 30+ sculptures have all been donated to the park by famous artists.
