We went to the same high school and probably passed each other in the halls every day. We knew each other’s friends and went to the same places. But — we didn’t know each other until we both had already graduated. Like so many other couples, we met on a dating app. We shared two messages and then Matt forgot to answer for a month. After that month, we were both still single, Matt finally replied. Our first date happened quickly and we became inseparable, all thanks to a shared love of Ghost Adventures.
On our first date we went mini golfing at Chuckster’s, and we were both very bad. We stopped keeping score by hole 4 and struggled our way through all 18! It was hilarious and definitely helped break the ice. After the longest game of mini golf, ever, ended, we didn’t want the date to end but had absolutely no idea where to go next. We drove around for 3 hours talking about everything under the sun, then finally decided to go watch Ghost Adventures. We sat (like three feet apart!) on the couch until 3am watching our favorite show together.
Christmas morning, Matt hid the ring in his pajama pants — still unsure about when he would pop the question. After watching Presley open gifts and we opened our gifts, Matt said there was one more present, got down on one knee, and proposed. It was so special. Our first Christmas with our baby, our first Christmas in our new home, and now our first Christmas engaged. There were definitely some happy tears going on. We will remember this Christmas for many years to come.
