While children are welcome at the Ritz-Carlton, ALL wedding events will be adults-only. We love your kids, but hope you will use our weekend to relax, and enjoy a bit of child-free time as we celebrate. We appreciate you making childcare arrangements ahead of time. For your convenience, the Ritz-Carlton offers a Kids Club for a fee on Friday and Saturday nights, and nanny services at other times through Caribbean Nanny Services. The sooner, the better! January through March is considered St. Thomas's busiest tourist season, so we suggest booking flights and rooms as soon as you are able in order to prevent sellouts and prices from rising. We'd also like to note that our RSVP form will have a space for your flight and hotel information. This is so that we may have an accurate head count and help coordinate airport transfers for guests arriving on the same day and going to the same place. Also, prior to the wedding, we're required to give the Ritz-Carlton local addresses for all guests choosing not to stay on-site in order for such guests to be permitted on-site on the wedding day.
You will receive your invitation in the mail earlier than is standard. Given the wedding's location and timeline, we are skipping traditional save-the-dates and (after invitations are sent) will request your RSVP via this website by November 12. On the RSVP form, you'll also find a required field for your hotel and flight information. This will help us ensure an accurate headcount, figure out welcome logistics, and give guests time to make hotel and flight reservations before fares become cost prohibitive in the busy holiday season. Certain activities (like our Welcome Sail) require a concrete headcount to proceed with booking, so we appreciate you making your accommodations in advance of the RSVP date. We realize this process deviates from tradition, but so does an island wedding (and the eccentricities of booking from afar), so we are grateful for your understanding and CANNOT WAIT to see you in St. Thomas!
For all wedding events, we are highly encouraging fun colors and patterns. We're all going to a tropical paradise, so we might as well dress the part. Whatever you wear, we want you to be comfortable. On our wedding day, we encourage "Caribbean Cocktail" attire, which is your typical cocktail look, with a tropical flair: - For women, this may look like a dress with a fun, floral pattern and/or a bold color. - For men, if you'd like to go for a suit or a blazer: feel free, but know it is not required. While we ask that you refrain from shorts, jeans, or men's sandals for the wedding itself, these should be fine for the Welcome Sail the night before!
No--which is part of the reason we selected St. Thomas as our destination. When traveling within the USVI (St. Thomas, St. John, St. Croix), no passport is required, but some form of identification (like a driver's license) may be requested. If you'd like to travel to the British Virgin Islands (which is a short and fairly inexpensive boat ride away), you WILL need a passport. Please plan accordingly.
See our Travel tab for more details on cab companies we recommend. Ground transportation is a highly regulated industry in St. Thomas and as such, drivers must offer uniform standard rates: Airport to East End hotel (shared van): $25 per person Airport to East End hotel (private): $135 total East End hotel to Red Hook (and visa versa): $8 per person East End hotel to Charlotte Amalie town center: $15 per person It is also important to note that it is very difficult to arrange a cab unless you are staying at a resort, as many drivers tend to congregate around the known tourist areas and have difficulty finding places in lesser-populated areas. We had a hard time finding transportation to/from locations that were "off the beaten path" due to the winding roads and poorly mapped areas in parts of the island. ALSO, PLEASE NOTE THAT MOST TAXIS ARE CASH ONLY.
