Yep! We were married in a small private ceremony in Urbana, IL on March 19, 2022. We always wanted to have a full ceremony and are delighted to finally celebrate with all our friends and family as we renew our wedding vows. We're using this opportunity to do the things we didn't get to previously but also as an excuse to gather friends and family and just have a great time.
All guests will be collectively escorted into the ceremony by one of the hosts from Chihuly; because of this, it is imperative that you arrive ***at or before*** 6:00pm, even though the ceremony will not start until closer to 6:20pm. Guests will gather just outside the entrance or just within the lobby (depending on weather) and be instructed by a Chihuly host.
Chihuly Garden & Glass is a glass museum by renowned glass blower Dale Chihuly. It is one of our favorite places in Seattle. In the 2.5 years that we've lived in Seattle, Emily has visited it at least 5 times and can basically give you a verbal tour. We are so excited to share this treasure with you!
We're so glad you asked. After the ceremony, guests will have free access to the museum (which will be closed to the public by then). No outside food or drink is permitted, but there will be snacks served which are allowed inside the exhibits. Please take as many pictures as you'd like; however, no flash photography. Our event insurance wants us to tell you please keep your hands off the exhibits.
For those of you staying at either of the hotels (Hyatt Place and Hyatt House), you're already within walking distance of the venue. WE HAVE RESERVED PARKING AT CHIHULY ITSELF, first come first serve. If the parking at Chihuly fills up there are multiple nearby pay-to-park garages: Mercer Garage - between Third Ave N and Roy St First Ave N Garage - between John St and Thomas St Fifth Ave N Garage - between Fifth Ave N and Republican St Street parking is also an option, pending availability.
Dress code is cocktail attire with formal optional. We suggest that men wear a suit or dress shirt and that women wear a dress or suit/equivalent with dressy flats or comfortable heels. When I (Emily) asked George what he thought the dress code should be he said "everyone needs to be as bright and colorful as possible". We want everyone to be happy and comfortable in what they're wearing, but we also highly encourage you to wear something colorful to complement the beautiful, colorful glass pieces.
Historically, late March in Seattle tends to run between 40-60F. It can be rainy, although often times a Seattle rain is intermittent and light, not like the thunderstorms of the Midwest. Luckily, while our venue does have an outdoor garden area the museum itself and the spaces we'll use for the ceremony & reception are entirely indoors so we are prepared even if weather is poor. We recommend you check the weather forecast about a week out if you're concerned.
People of all ages are welcome into our celebration and into the Chihuly Garden & Glass; however, we will not have any specific childcare or designated child activities and our event insurance wants us to ask that any children be under supervision so they do not touch the exhibits.
