FAQs

Question

How long do I need to visit to enjoy New Orleans?

Answer

We suggest between 3-5 days, so that you can enjoy all that New Orleans has to offer. If you are planning on staying a few extra days, it looks like airfare is pretty solid from Wednesday- Tuesday (at least from Newark).

Question

How do I get around? Will I need a car?

Answer

We strongly suggest NOT renting a car for your time in New Orleans. From the airport, you can take a bus, and Uber, or a shuttle. If you are looking to traverse the city, you can do so by foot or trolley. Since New Orleans is a city, parking is very expensive and your car will just be sitting in a lot anyway!

Question

When should I book my travel?

Answer

We would suggest booking your lodging as soon as possible- there is a Saints home game the Sunday of our wedding. For flights, the most economical options are available starting the spring. For air travel, earlier booking is not always better! (Google suggests booking at the start of July).

Question

Where should I stay for the wedding?

Answer

We strongly suggest our room block at the Aloft, since this will be the epicenter for the wedding (and also where transportation to and from the venue will be occurring). If you are traveling with a large group, you might want to check out an AirBnB. We also have small room blocks at other hotels- see the travel page for more information.

Question

What does travel look like for the bride and groom?

Answer

We will be coming in late Thursday night and leaving New Orleans early Tuesday morning. The festivities are mostly on Saturday and Sunday, so no need to get in as early as we are!

Question

Do you have a registry?

Answer

No- we do not. We are appliance junkies and we really have all that we need already. Additionally, we are moving back to New Jersey mid-August, so we won’t need much! We also really just want to celebrate with our friends and family, so we are encouraging guests to come along for the ride- gifts are not expected or an obligation.

Question

Is this a kid-friendly event?

Answer

Sort of. There are many amazing things to do with families in New Orleans; the World War II museum is brilliant and the zoo is a wonder. Our venue is kid-friendly for the most part, but it is on a literal bayou…and Ian did nearly step on an adult gator when we visited. With that in mind, if you are planning on bringing your wee ones along, please reach out! We can absolutely secure a spot for the littles, but want you to have a full picture of the event, so you can make the best choice for your family.

Question

What info do I need to know if I’m staying at a hotel other than the block?

Answer

We will be shuttling guests to and from the Aloft to our reception venue. The shuttles will leave around 4:30. The shuttles will not be going to any other hotel in the area. If you plan on driving yourself, there is ample parking at the venue, but it is about 20 minutes from the city. Additionally, Uber and Lyft service is spotty out there, so the shuttle is your best bet. We are also doing welcome bags, but those will be distributed during welcome drinks at the Aloft for each family/couple.
