Travel Note

Flying to San Miguel

There are two options for airports when traveling to San Miguel. Leon, El Bajio Airport (BJX) or Queretaro Airport (QRO). Both airports are approximately an hour and a half from San Miguel so a taxi, bus, or car service will be needed to reach the city.

Airport Transportation

There are a few options to reach San Miguel from either the BJX or QRO airports. A shuttle is approximately $25 USD, taxis can range from $50-100 USD, or a private shuttle for around $70-100 USD (all for one-way). When we visit San Miguel, we call German Cardona or Dani Vargas to coordinate a shuttle. These drivers were referred to us by our wedding planners. They're very safe and reliable drivers. They arrive 20 minutes before your arrival and wait for you with a sign as you exit baggage claim. San Miguel is a very pedestrian friendly city and you'll find you can walk just about everywhere. Also, Uber is in San Miguel and very reasonable. Better yet, taxis are much more cheaper and readily available.

Flight

Volaris

We've found that some of the Mexican Airlines have the least expensive, shortest, and most convenient routes to get to Leon (BJX) or Queretaro (QRO). They are definitely worth considering! For our friends and family traveling from California: Volaris has non-stop flights from both Sacramento (SMF) and Los Angeles (LAX) airports to Leon (BJX) at a very reasonable price. Keep in mind that for both cities, the flight to Leon occurs at 12:30am so please be mindful of the date you are flying to not get the days mixed up :) It is a red eye flight which may be slightly inconvenient, but it is direct and very reasonable. Something to definitely consider!

VivaAerobus

For our friends and family traveling from San Antonio and Austin: VivaAerobus has a direct flight from San Antonio (SAT) to Leon (BJX). We found this airline to be very nice and it was definitely convenient having a direct (even if we had to drive to San Antonio from Austin).

Lodging

Here are some options for hotels that have secured a room block & discounted rate. We are providing 6 options that range from family and budget friendly to boutique to a private hacienda. There are so many options for hotels (and AirBnbs) in San Miguel. If you'd like some advice or more options let us know! Keep in mind most hotels within "Zona Centro" of San Miguel are a short walk (or even shorter Uber) to the wedding events! A few things to note when booking: * We converted the MXN pesos rate so everything is in USD. However, due to exchange fluctuations the rate might be off a couple dollars * Room rates are quoted per night * The rates are valid from Sep 28th to Oct 2nd. If you'd like a rate outside of those dates please contact the hotel directly to coordinate * At the time of booking mention "Gaby and Nathan" and the date of the wedding (Oct 1st). There is not a code enabled on the websites, so you will need to email or call the hotel with this information

If you decide to rent this house please let us know! That way we can remove it from the wedding website :) DETAILS: House with 5 bedrooms, 4 of them with a king size bed and 1 with a double bed. Each one has its own private bathroom. Ideal for 10 people, since the rooms are double. It also has a living room, dining room, office, TV room, terrace. The whole house fully equipped. Note: The house is on two floors, it has stairs. However, there is a room (double) on the ground floor if a person with a disability attends. Restrictions: * No pets. * Smoking areas only in open spaces (open air), not in rooms. * Noise on the terrace until 10 pm Parking: $12 per car, it works as a pension.
