Question

What is a Kitchen Party?

Answer

The kitchen party is an accepted and necessary pre-wedding tradition unique to Zambians ladies who are engaged. The main purpose of this party is for guests from both families to give advice to the bride in several areas, and then accept the couple into each other’s families, before the big day.

Question

Following the bestowal of advice, the Matron (the MC of the festivities) allows the Groom to enter will all the other men behind him to support him in unveiling of the Bride.

Question

Why is the bride not smiling?

Answer

Question

WHY DO AFRICANS THROW MONEY AT WEDDINGS?

Answer

Originated by the Yoruba people in Nigeria's Southwest, money spraying symbolizes a showering of happiness, good fortune, and the guest's affection for the couple. This is not required but we highly encourage you to participate in the fun. A conservative amount to bring with you would be $20 in single bills as there are different portions of the proceedings where money throwing is allowed. The Matron will notify the guests when they are permitted to throw money.
