His Story: I first met Esther when I joined my college ministry, FiCB, at Berkeley. Esther had already joined earlier and was known as the outgoing freshman from Sac Town. I didn't get to know Esther well until we started taking classes together when she copied me and became a Political Science major. As we spent more time serving together in college ministry, I saw her heart for others and God. Throughout college, she was always there with me during the highs and lows, becoming someone I deeply cared for. We quickly became best friends, even making a "Single by 30" pact (for those of you who watched Wong Fu Productions back in the day lol). Back then, I had no idea we would get married before turning 30. However, when we started dating senior year and Esther told me she wanted to move to Washington D.C. to pursue her career, something inside me told me to go with her. I thank God for pushing me to move across the country with her and allowing me to marry my best friend! Her Story: The first time I met Daniel was during college in Berkeley in "late night," where students gather at cafeterias for late night snacks. I remember he was wearing a bright yellow Cal hoodie and I thought "wow, he must be a fob!" Another distinct first memory was when we went on a community group joint outing to go kayaking at Sausalito. I picked Daniel to be my kayak partner because I didn't know him well. We didn't pay attention to the instructor and we accidentally traversed into a really strong current. We struggled to get back to the shore, fighting the wind and waves, but we did it, together. Throughout our friendship, we saw each other through many of our own personal storms but also celebrated each other's triumphs. It was in these moments that our friendship deepened and eventually, our feelings grew and we began dating. Being with Daniel has been one of the most fun, challenging, but rewarding experiences of my life. Kind of like that first kayaking trip in Sausalito. I'm sure that life will continue to come with many adventures and challenges but I am so lucky to do it with Daniel, my best friend and future husband!
