We both met up with friends at a bar, Blake Street Tavern, on a September day in 2020 to watch the Colorado Avalanche in the playoffs. After a quick introduction from a mutual friend, our day out for the game unsurprisingly turned into a mini bar crawl. Over the next few bars and finally at a friends house, we chatted, exchanged lists of mutual friends and eventually phone numbers with plans to hang out soon. The next day, Chelsea texted Erik inviting him over to a summer BBQ. To this day, there is still skepticism that this invite wasn’t just a set up for a sneaky double date. Over the next couple of hours, we grilled out, got to know each other more and competed in a very memorable game of Taboo where we annihilated the other team 21 to 12 (we aren’t competitive at all). What stood out most about this game is that Erik named the team “The Butt's” foreshadowing our future together. We started dating immediately, spending 4 days together in our first week of knowing each other. Since then, it’s been an amazingly fun, easy partnership for Team Butt. Oh, and we still continue to kick-Butt on game nights.
