Snake and Jake's is one of New Orlean's many strange, quirky, dive bars and stays open veryyy late. Eric and I have only been here once together, and I don't think either of us have been since, but it holds a sweet place in my heart with memories of new and uncharted love
A legendary music venue in New Orleans, this venue holds a special place in Eric and I's heart, as Eric's recording studio is just down the street and we have spent many nights hanging here and going to shows. Also every Sunday evening 7pm during crawfish season they have a crawfish boil followed by a show. Crawfish drop at 7:30p so get there early so you can get a spot around the table! They have one on April 9th! Will we see you there?
Iconic and Funky New Orleans restaurant located uptown on Oak Street right next to the Maple Leaf Bar
One of our favorite spots in the city. Bacchanal is truly a unique space, a wine shop that opens to a lovely courtyard often filled with live music and serves great food!
DBA is a great music venue on the famous Frenchman street. This is where Maggie had her album release last April! They have a great bar and some of the best music on Frenchman
Another favorite on Frenchman street, this is one of the best spots on frenchman to catch local jazz music.
One of Eric and I's favorite places to have dinner! The owners are friends and good humans. Not only is the food delicious but this restaurant will make you feel at home.
Best sandwich spot in the city. Stein's is a jewish deli located on Magazine Street, mostly known for its great shopping. I get the "Sam" and Eric gets the "Rachel", but you can't go wrong.
Eric and I live dangerously close to this BBQ spot which is a blessing and a curse. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but I go with the spicy chicken sandwich every time and Eric usually gets the brisket or wings. They also make very delicious house made Daquiri's which change every month
Everyone has heard of Cafe du Monde and their delicious cafe au lait and beignets! Though the one on Decatur by the river is famous and conveniently located downtown, I recommend the location in City Park, a stones throw from where we will be taking our vows, and far less busy. City Park is also wonderfully beautiful with so many things to do. Tip: If you do decide to go to the one on Decatur, don't wait in the line the tourists always create to be seated. They are confused. There is no host/hostess, its first come first serve, just walk in like you know what your doing and find the first table you see open even if its dirty! They will come clean it off and take your order. ya just gotta get in there;)
I am pretty sure Eric and I are the only people who go to eat at the Children's Museum on a hungover Sunday. May not seem like the ideal location, with screaming kids, but the food is great and the atmosphere is lovely If you are in city park and need a quick bite or want to see lots of turtles and alligators, this little cafe sits right over the water.
Located on Bayou St. John in Mid City, a lovely place for a walk and the neighborhood we live in, this is a great place for a Po Boy!
Love this Havana-inspired bar and cafe set on a quiet street in the french quarter. Great stop while walking around in the quarter during the day
One of Eric and I's favorite date spots in the French Quarter
Love this coffee shop and it has great food. Located close to Magazine and the Garden District
Great breakfast spot! They don't take reservations but it is worth the wait!
Located inside the Hotel Monteleone in the French Quarter, a unique spinning carousel bar, perfect for a pre or post dinner drink!
Great dive bar in the Bywater! Usually has live music from thursday through sunday
Great local dive bar in the Bywater
Eric worked sound here for several years. Tipitina's is a staple of New Orleans music. Check out their calendar to catch a show and grab a drink at Ms. Mae's beforehand (some of the cheapest drinks in the city)
My favorite music venue in the city. Eric also worked sound here when it was One Eyed Jacks. An old theater turned music venue in the french quarter
Before I moved to New Orleans and was on the verge of my first trip to New Orlenas for Jazz Fest, I went down to city hall in SF to dispute a ticket. The clerk who took my case happened to be from NOLA and I told him about my upcoming trip. Lafitte's was his recommendation. He said: " It is on Bourbon street but you keep walking down Bourbon toward Esplanade and when you move out the madness, you know your headed in the right direction, just keep walking and you will find it". Great stop on your way to Frenchman street from the quarter. A historical landmark and a great dimly lit piano bar tucked away from the bourbon street madness. Side note: I fought the law and I won, He gave me my money back for my ticket!
Vals is a cute, hip, taco joint located uptown on Freret. Super close to where I lived for 8 years on Jena and Loyola Street
Tigermen's Den has a very cute Cajun Brunch every Sunday and even includes a cajun dance lesson!
A great place for a walk with beautiful views of downtown new orleans, right on the Mississippi River
My favorite record store in the city!
Great place for coffee and a quick bite to eat in the morning!
Love this breakfast spot! There is another location in the Bywater!
Really cute french wine bar and restaurant, tucked in a neighborhood near the bywater
The music box is a unique musical playground set just alongside the levee. They often host open hours to explore the grounds, a variety of musical showcases/concerts, and sometimes pop up markets
Great new orleans restaurant located uptown. Great spot for oysters and the iconic New Orleans BBQ Shrimp
Known for it's ice cream and Italian desserts!
The best spot for Ice Cream Uptown!
