^The view flying in^ With a little planning, getting to Juneau doesn't have to be super long or costly! Please feel free to reach out to us while planning - we're very familiar with options and happy to help!

Flight

Midwest Travelers

All flights are from Seattle, with either Alaska or Delta. The shortest travel time from/to the midwest is about 10 hours & luckily they're often cheapest! For your sanity, we don't recommend flights with more than a Seattle stop. If you're looking at routes with longer travel, we recommend a mini Seattle trip as opposed to being stuck in airports: $ SAVER OPTION: AM flight to Seattle and PM flight to Juneau (have at least 10 hours). Link Light Rail gets you downtown fast - spend the day exploring before your 2nd flight! OVERNIGHT OPTION: There are layovers up to 24 hours and lots of airport hotels, all with easy train access. If you're fancy, book a downtown hotel! Look for ones near Light Rail stations for logistical ease. *MAKE LIFE EASY* For a less than 12-hr layover, recheck your bag before you leave the airport! If longer, Ken's (near baggage claim) stores luggage for a few bucks a day! Pack what you need and leave all your fancy new outdoor gear safely at Seatac ;)

Travel Note

$$ and Time Savers

$ SAVER: If you qualify for the Visa Signature card (link below) & spend $1000 in the first 90 days, you get: -30,000 miles, which is a FREE round trip to Juneau for one person :O -a yearly FREE round trip ticket when you buy one (except taxes $100-160) -FREE checked bags - usually $30 each per flight. I mean wow *Fee is $75 - but the savings! And AK flies practically everywhere - so you can start planning next year's BOGO vacay too ;D *You have to use the card for 90 days before you get the perks, so apply ASAP* *I swear I'm not on their payroll, I just really love this card* $ SAVER: If you book through Alaska, keep a price alert on. If the price of your flight drops, you can go back to their website and get a refund of cash or miles! TIME SAVER: If you're doing a Seattle mini-trip and fly semi-frequently, consider TSA Precheck. It's $85 for FIVE YEARS and super easy to get (if you're not a felon). Seatac is BUSY and precheck will free up about an extra hour to spend in the city!

Hotel

Lodging

*As the date gets closer we may update with a group rate.* We prefer downtown hotels because it's where everything is and entirely walkable. Recommendations from most to least expensive: FOUR POINTS: Downtown, new and nice, across the street from the reception. PROSPECTOR HOTEL: Downtown, not as new or nice but comfy, short walking distance from reception. DRIFTWOOD LODGE: Downtown, even less new and nice but it's fine! Short walking distance from reception. THE ASPEN: By airport, 15 min drive downtown, but closer to hiking and beaches. About as nice as Four Points but a lil cheaper. *Ask us about others you find. We left several off due to their proximity to cruise tourists and rowdy bars. AIRBNBS: There are Airbnbs for all budgets! Again, downtown is most convenient but check the parking situation if you're driving. Airbnbs also offer more unique locations, like Douglas Island and Auke Bay. Consult us on what you find so we can provide more context on location before you book :D

Rental Car

Getting Around

*If you need a ride to the ceremony please let us know!* If you stay downtown, you can get away with not renting a car by using tour shuttles, the city bus (easy to navigate), and taxis/Ubers. You'll even have easy access to one of the best hikes, Perseverance Trail. If you stay elsewhere and/or want to explore more than the standard tourist locations, you'll want a car to go "out the road" for beaches, mountains, hiking and wildlife-spotting. There are several rental companies, all at the airport. *CAUTION: Taxis and Ubers are not as readily available as in big cities - especially at bar close. If you're planning to party a lot, stay downtown so you can walk home.
