Room bookings are in and we have a couple more left. Flights: It's time to book! Flights from many places are low, stable and starting to increase so watch closely. Passport: Get on it! You'll need it to book your flights so don't wait :)

Travel Details, Tips and Tricks

We've got you. We wanted to give everyone some advice and options to make travel cheaper and easier. If you have any questions, please ask. Maid of Honor, Amanda, and her hubby, Michael also travel a ton and visited Cartagena in the last few years. We are all happy to help! IT IS TIME TO BOOK! Flights right now are low for many locations and projected to increase over the next few months. You should be monitoring and booking. Google flights and capital one booking portal are great for monitoring trends. New Orleans flights are still high and Spirit hasn't updated their date through June yet so Nola folks can hold out a bit.

Flight Information

The ceremony will be on June 1st 2024. We have a 3-4 night room block so I would suggest coming in on May 30th and staying forever :). Flights to Cartagena range by location and time. Cheap flights require a little more searching and flexibility. We don't want anyone to break the bank getting to Cartagena so we are here to help. Here are the price ranges you should be looking at. From New Orleans: $280-450 From Orlando*: $250-400 From DC: $300-500 From Richmond: $250-500 From Raleigh: $300-450 From Lynchburg: $500-700 (try DC or Richmond $250-500) From Chattanooga: $700-900 (try Atlanta for $250-450) If you are getting something wildly different, check out the tips below and then call for reinforcements.

Tips and Tricks

1. Do not search directly from the airlines. Use a third party app like momondo (our fav) or kayak. If you feel more comfortable booking from the airline, even the same exact flight will be more expensive so search third party sites first so you know what to expect. 2. Do not book too far in advance. It is ok and in most cases suggested to wait out good prices. We flew round trip from New Orleans on 4 to 7 hour flights for $288 in a month. If I search now (August) for next June, the cheapest is $718 for 17-18 hour flights with crazy lay overs. Don't do it. Two-Three months prior will give you the best idea and if you aren't finding flights in the range... get creative. 3. Try another airport. International airports will give you the best prices so often if you can get there first, it will be cheaper. When flying to Europe last summer, I flew to DC first and caught my flight from there. When we went to Brazil, we did a night in Orlando and saved hundreds of dollars. Most flights to Cartagena connect through Fort Lauderdale. 4. Be flexible with dates. Flying in Friday and out Sunday first, wont be long enough to enjoy Cartagena but second, will be way more expensive. Thursday-Tuesday flight are usually WAY cheaper. Momondo has a great feature that allows you to play around with dates and airports. We suggest flying in Wednesday or Thursday and flying out Monday or Tuesday. 5. Travel light. Bags can cost you almost double. A carry on or if you can swing it, a personal item is best

Pro Tip: Use Miles to Pay for your Trip

This is a weird thing to put on a wedding website but we are doing it and figured we would share. To pay for wedding (and just life) things, I got a Capital One Venture X card. On my usual spending, I will earn 75,000 miles (which is $750 of travel points). The card also comes with a $300 travel credit which paid for our venue finding visit. Jeff is using my referral link which gives me 25,000 miles ($250) and putting wedding costs on that card to earn 75,000 ($750). So just by getting 2 credit cards and spending our normal amount (kinda, plus wedding) we will get about $1,800 for our honeymoon. Not telling you what to do with your finances but if you want to hack the miles system too and pay for your trip, we would love it if you use our referral links and help us earn honeymoon miles :) Capital One Venture: https://i.capitalone.com/JNMiZsppE Bonus Miles: 75,000 or $750 (after spending $4,000 in 3 months) Fee: $95 Perks: 2x miles on every dollar spent, $100 credit for TSA Pre or Global Entry Capital One Venture X https://i.capitalone.com/JvmvNHE4Q (For those that travel a lot) Bonus miles: 75,000 of $750 (after spending $4,000 in 3 months) Fee: $395 Perks: $300 travel credit every year, 10,000 anniversary miles, $100 credit for TSA Pre or Global Entry, Lounge access :) Chase Sapphire Preferred https://www.referyourchasecard.com/6j/9CERPSR9T1 Bonus Miles: 60,000 or $600 Fee: $95 Perks: Use miles to refund purchases in specific categories This is how we traveled Brazil and enjoyed a ton of Airbnbs.
