Emily and Tim met in 2018, on the street in front of Frisky Fries, in downtown Providence. Tim, a Providence College grad, had just relocated back to his alma mater city for work, and was exploring the downtown area with friends during "PVDFest" - Providence's annual outdoor arts and culture festival. Emily and a few of the girlfriends she made after moving to Providence in 2016 had the same idea to head to DownCity for a fun filled day at PVDFest. Right as the Parade was about to start, Emily heard someone (Tim) shout the name of her friend that was also a PC grad. The two groups ended up spending the rest of the day together - listening to live music, eating from food trucks, and wandering throughout the city. At the end of the night - after a healthy amount of back and forth banter - Tim asked Emily if she’d be interested in “going out” sometime and the two exchanged numbers. Tim reached out immediately (literally less than 10 minutes after they said goodbye) and asked Emily to go out for dinner. The two went on their first date, a mere four days later, at Sienna’s on Federal Hill. They spent the night talking about their families and Providence College (Emily considers herself an honorary Friar through family - her sister and brother-in law met there) - the conversation was so easy. Things got serious pretty quick - within a month of their first date, Tim met the Aikens (literally the entire extended family), Emily made her first trip to New Jersey, and the two became an "official" couple. Fast forward three years - the two decided together that Rhode Island would be the place they would call home, Emily convinced Tim to rescue a pup - Charley - that they are both now equally as obsessed with, and in July 2021, exactly 1 year after their families met at Emily's sister and brother-in-law's home in Westerly, Tim proposed to Emily on a morning beach walk in Misquamicut (Westerly). For many reasons, Westerly holds a special place in their hearts -- it is where they go to escape the hustle and bustle of Providence, to spend time with family and just slow down. Not only is it where Tim popped the question, but Westerly also where the couple introduced their families to one another. Thus, it is only fitting that this is this special place is where they chose to tie the knot!
