Question

When should I book my room?

Answer

Right now! All rooms must be booked by the end of February. Please refer to our "Travel" tab for more details and the booking link. Booking through our link will save you the most money! It may appear less on sites such as Expedia, but there are lots of hidden fees and whatnot where they getcha. We promise we have been over this multiple times with the resort and our planners and you are getting the best rate this way!

Question

COVID?!

Answer

The burning question. We know that Covid is a very real threat to everyone at this time, and the safety of our friends and family is the most important thing in the world to us. As of now, we are moving forward with everything as planned. We will be watching it very closely in the months leading up to the big day. The resort is now offering free on-site Covid testing, which is great for everyone's return home. Along with free stay at the resort, should you be Covid+ (but you won't be haha, think happy thoughts). If you book your stay at Mahekal Beach Resort, your reservation will move with the date -- or you can receive a 50% refund, should the new date not work for you (though at this time, we do not predict a reschedule). Most airlines will also allow flight changes free of charge at this time (but make sure you double check before booking). Basically, you have nothing to worry about, and we hope this will not deter you :)

Question

Will I be getting a separate invitation?

Answer

Nope! We decided to go paperless since those things go straight into the trash anyway! The Save the Date is all you'll receive in the mail. Please be sure to update your email address in the RSVP tab, whether you plan to attend or not! This will help greatly with all future communications :)

Question

Will I need a passport?

Answer

Yes! And you will need your passport before you can book your flight! We recommend getting that situated and ready to go as soon as possible, as there have been some major delays. You can make an appointment online at almost all USPS locations for a seamless passport experience. At this point, we would recommend getting the rushed service. You can also get photos taken at Walgreens and send in your passport application forms online. This option is slightly less expensive, but has a few extra steps involved.

Question

Should I RSVP now or wait for my official invitation?

Answer

There isn't an official invitation! We need you to RSVP right now :) These things are a little harder to plan for with a destination wedding! We have asked that all RSVPs pretty please be in by December 31, 2021, or very shortly thereafter. All lodging accommodations within our hotel block are required by the end of February 2021. This option saves you roughly $300 and ensures you will be near all the fun peeps at the hotel! It's a rather large place, so don't get stuck in the boring end :)

Question

I have not traveled internationally and am not sure how to manage my travel plans. Can you help?

Answer

Absolutely! Our planning team can answer any additional questions you may have about traveling to Mexico for our wedding. You can reach out to Regina, Krista and Stephany here > hello@crosbyandjon.com.

Question

What airport do I fly into?

Answer

Cancún International Airport. You will need a passport! From there, via the "Travel" tab on this webpage, you will be able to book transportation to and from the airport to Mahekal Resort where the wedding will take place.

Question

How do I get from the airport to Mahekal Beach Resort?

Answer

Please check the "Travel" tab for our transportation suggestions! This is a very safe and well-known company we are using for travel. You are in good hands!

Question

Should I rent a car?

Answer

You don’t need to! The resort is in walking distance to 5th Street in Playa Del Carmen where you can find dozens of fun places to eat, shop, listen to live music, and experience all around amazing things! If you still wish to rent a car, check out our "Travel" tab for a recommendation. Nothing involving our wedding will require a car!

Question

Should I book a room direct with Mahekal Beach Resort?

Answer

Yes please! We have secured a special rate for our guests and you can start booking now. Please use the booking instructions on the "Travel" tab to make sure you get the right price and are nearby other guests for the party!

Question

Do I have to stay at the suggested beach resort?

Answer

It is our vision that all our guests are together while celebrating such a special weekend in our lives. However, we understand that you may have something else in mind. Our planning team is available to make recommendations if need be. If you decide to go another route, please let Emily or Joe know your plan so everyone is accounted for.

Question

What if the wedding is canceled or postponed due to Covid-19?

Answer

At this point, we don't see this happening. God forbid another world shut down - the hotel has a 50 % refund policy if the wedding has to be canceled, though we fully intend to postpone and see no scenarios where there will be a complete cancellation. If/when postponed, you will be given the option to carry over your reservation to the new date. Most airlines will carry a similar policy, but please make sure you are covered in case of any unforeseen circumstances.

Question

Should I tip?

Answer

Yes! Your bellman, driver, waiter, bartender, cleaning person -- they are all working hard for tips. Please be kind, and if you love them, show them!

Question

I have never been to this part of Mexico. What should I expect?

Answer

The Riviera Maya sits on the tranquil blue waters of the Caribbean. It is breathtakingly beautiful and you will find that the climate is very tropical. One thing to look out for -- if mosquitoes are a thing for you, bring bug spray! Or start researching supplements that work to keep those guys away. We’ve heard a month of Garlic, Oregano Oil, Calcium, or B supplements does the trick.

Question

Do I need to get pesos or should I plan to use US Dollars?

Answer

It is always great to use pesos. You can find an ATM at the airport right after you go through customs, or plan to use a bank atm in town. If you want to be ahead of the game, head to the bank a couple weeks before the trip and do an exchange there so you don't have to worry about it once you land! Please keep in mind, some banks do not have pesos on hand and there may be a bit of a wait time, which is why we recommend going at least a couple weeks prior. When tipping, USD are usually a-okay.

Question

Should I drink the water?

Answer

Not unless you enjoy the toilet more than the beach :) The hotel provides fresh bottled water for brushing your teeth and drinking.

Question

Should I plan to spend all day and night at the resort?

Answer

That is up to you! With bars, pools, restaurants, a game room, hotel activities and the prettiest beaches in the area, you may simply want to post up on a hammock and forget about the world outside the resort for a few days. We support that. :) But you are also welcome to explore as much as you'd like!

Question

Will Summie be there?

Answer

Does Dolly Parton sleep on her back?

For all the days along the way
