These all are places that are very near and dear to us. We have visited each and every one of them on many occasions during the first couple of years we dated, and they remain on our permanent list of places to revisit every time we go back to Phoenix. Some of them represent some of our very first and most treasured memories!!
Tempe Town Lake
Tempe, AZ 85281
The pedestrian bridge near the west end of the lake is where we got engaged! Wait til just before sunset with planes arriving/departing PHX airport overhead for the best experience! ;)
Casey Moore's Oyster House
850 South Ash Avenue, Tempe, AZ 85281, (480) 968-9935
This is the location of our first date! A little-known tidbit: we ditched an ASU/U of A football game (we even had tickets!) to come here and get to know each other. We think it paid off okay...
"A" Mountain
Tempe, AZ 85281
Easy hike (10 mins or less) right next to Mill Ave in Tempe to get a great view of the entire valley!
Slickables Ice Cream Sandwich
699 South Mill Avenue, Tempe, AZ 85281, (480) 409-4591
Cheapest ice cream sammies around...bring your friends.
Postino Annex
615 South College Avenue, Tempe, AZ 85281, (480) 927-1111
Known for their epic "bottle and a board" special, on Mondays and Tuesdays, you can get a bottle of GOOD wine and a sizeable bruschetta board for $20... That's a good deal, even in 2021. Our favorite date spot when Jeremy traveled to visit Emily early on.
Culinary Dropout
149 South Farmer Avenue, Tempe, AZ 85281, (480) 240-1601
Amazing food, and home of the $2 "paper bag special" brewski. You never know what you're gonna get!
Four Peaks Brewing Company
1340 East 8th Street, Tempe, AZ 85281, (480) 303-9967
One of the best breweries and brewpubs in town! Ever heard of Kilt Lifter??
Dutch Bros
1921 North Scottsdale Road, Scottsdale, AZ 85257
Starbucks is so...2005. If you want to know what to get, just google their menu. Hopefully you have about 30 minutes to browse through it.
Oregano's
3102 North Scottsdale Road, Scottsdale, AZ 85251, (480) 970-1860
THIS is the best casual italian food on the planet. No contest. Pro tips: Italian Gold wings (you're welcome), Kick Butt Garlic Cheese Bread. Start with those, and go nuts.
Camelback Mountain
Phoenix, AZ 85018
For a more advanced hike (2-ish hours), try either route from the north or south side of the mountain. Bring water and good shoes, and enjoy the epic view from the top!!
Salt River Fields at Talking Stick
7555 North Pima Road, Scottsdale, AZ 85258, (480) 270-5000
If COVID hasn't completely devastated American sports for another year (TBD on that...) catch a Rockies or Diamondbacks spring training game for cheap. They both share the facility, and it's immaculate. Pro tip: scour the nearby parking lots and landscaping for errant baseballs that made it out of the fences as a memorable souvenir.
