We had a required writing class of about 15 students together during our sophomore year at Syracuse University. We did not speak to each other once (besides forced class discussions).
A classic modern love story, meeting on the app Hinge. When Adam picked Emily up for our first date (Tully's World Famous Tenders!) the first words out of his mouth were, "Didn't we have a class together?".
Adam officially asked Emily to be his girlfriend!
After we both graduated from Syracuse University, Adam left Massachusetts and moved to Portland, Oregon with Emily after only three months of dating.
We adopted our first kitten, Leo, from the Oregon Humane Society less than 48 hours after Emily returned from six weeks in South America. You can guess whose idea getting a kitten was.
While working at DoveLewis Emergency Animal Hospital, Emily saw two stray kittens that needed a home. Emily called Adam while he was sleeping to ask if she could take them and he said no. Adam later woke up to a text from Emily saying, "Sorry not sorry". Leo was very happy to have his new siblings, Simon and Cece.
We purchased our first home in North Portland! A big step in becoming "tenants-in-common". We now have many stray cats we have taken under our wing. The cat ownership never ends!
Adam asked Emily to marry him while taking a walk with his parents and her mom (and Woody!) in Black Butte Ranch. He asked where there was a perfect view of Emily and her dad's favorite mountain, Mt. Jefferson. Emily's sister then surprised them when they finished their walk.
During a bad ice storm, we decided to harbor some of the neighborhood stray cats in our garage. One of them decided she had no plans on leaving. We have happily welcomed “Mama” into our ever-growing cattery.
We make it official at Black Butte Ranch! We cannot wait to celebrate with you all at our favorite place!!
