Em: Boy who lives on Long Island goes to picnic in Queens. Boy matches with girl in Brooklyn. Girl is bored 'cause of pandemic and doesn't disqualify boy for living on the island. Adami: I love how this is just your story of how this happened. Like, "here's where *I* was when all this happened. Em: You're right honey. The point is, we matched because we were meant to, we talked on FaceTime for like 10 hours, and by the time we met in person it already felt right.
You know what is a hard secret to keep? A proposal. Especially when the lady being proposed to has talked about it so much that she's expecting it every day. So even though her family were all aware and helped plan various elements, keeping the secret from her had to involve trying to convince her that I was feeling pressured by her family (remember, who were all in on it at this point) and that we should not talk about it for a while. However, she's still expecting it to some degree. So after a few days of walking around with the ring in my pocket, I finally popped the question in the least expected way ever; in our bedroom just after we got home from brunch. Apparently, it was so unexpected that I had to remind her to say yes. Then, after she'd said yes, we went to the park where we had our first in-person date and I proposed again in the snow.
