Chris moved to Denver, CO from Kirkland, WA about 6 months before Emily. Ironically, Emily almost moved to the Seattle area after Physical Therapy school and got her first PT license in WA state, but did a last minute pivot and moved to Colorado. She then almost moved to rural Craig Colorado, but the Universe had other plans for her, and the job didn’t work out. SO, Emily landed in Denver, where she met a wonderful group of friends, through her college lacrosse co-captain, Grace Jackson. When she met her new group of friends for the first time at a beer garden in Denver, she heard a boisterous laugh from the other end of the table— if you know Chris— you know that laugh. Chris was smitten by Emily’s beautiful smile and thirst for adventure. The rest was history (well...kind of...). You can ask the CO friends about the rest of the details :)
Chris secretly asked for the Bohannan parental approval over Christmas and kept everyone guessing when the big day was going to happen. Chris and Emily had many ski adventures during winter 2021, but none compare to our Crested Butte trip February 26-28th. Emily was exhausted from a long work week and the 5 hour drive to CB, and was a little bit cranky on the mountain Saturday morning. Chris, being his usual cheery self, refused to let Emily have a bad day. To Emily, Chris’s positive attitude and extra love were nothing outside of the ordinary. He got her lunch and brought her back to their condo for a nap. They got ready and went to meet friends down in the town of Crested Butte. Erika and Betty were “worried about Covid” so we were just going to meet them for a walk down the street from their house before going to dinner. Betty had just purchased a new camera and was “practicing her landscapes” and “just figuring it out”. When they reached the small bridge at sunset Chris and Emily posed for a photo, and Erika snuck behind them with a giant green sign that said “Marry Me?”. He turned Emily around and got down on one knee and opened a small box containing an emerald ring— a ring that his late Teta had given to his mother, Debbie, when Chris was born.
