This is a place we & everyone in Charleston LOVE. It is a fun/casual environment and delicious WINGS. Both the patio and inside are great atmospheres, a number of TV's if there are any games going on. On the weekend nights they will often have a live band. No matter what you have to try their wings- the best! Other things we love there are their fried ribs, burger, tater tots, mac n cheese, nachos. They also are known for their two frozen drinks - Gamechangers and Frozen Irish Coffees. There is one in downtown Charleston and one on Sullivans Island.
A well known area in Charleston with views of the harbor along with sight seeing in parks and amazing historic homes. Very pretty this time of year to walk around! If you take East Bay street all the way down to the water you will be in the right area. There are various parking garages along East Bay or parking on the street.
Charleston has a lot of history and is said to be a haunted city. They start and end in the Market area downtown, there are restaurants/places to grab dessert and a drink before or after a ghost tour. Carmella's or Kaminsky's Dessert Cafe are located in the area and great for a dessert/drink.
If you are interested in shopping or window shopping, King Street is where you want to go. There is street parking, and a number of parking garages just off of King Street as well. An easy garage to get in and out of is The Visitor Parking Garage at 73 Mary St. Park there, walk a block to King Street and take a left down to lower King where most of the retail shops are.
The Charleston City Market is one of the nation's oldest public markets and the "cultural heart of Charleston". They are home to more than 300 local entrepreneurs and are open every day. This area is great to walk through if doing shopping on King Street as they are easily walkable to each other. Some of our favorite nearby spots for lunch include Millers All Day, 167 Raw, Amen Street, Husk, 82 Queen, Chipotle (for Elijah), and The Griffon.
We haven't been on this yet - it recently opened as things have been reopening more and more. We have had a few friends go on it and say good things. If you are interested in breweries, check it out!
Shem Creek is an area we go to if we want to grab a drink outside or walk around by the water. It is great during the day and at night! It is just a few minutes over the bridge from downtown into Mount Pleasant (where we live & where the wedding venue is). It is a group of large restaurants/bars on the water that are mostly connected by a boardwalk. There are coastal views if you'd like to walk around during the morning/day, see the fisherman come in and out, there is paddle boarding/kayak rentals, and restaurants/bars that you can grab a drink/bite to eat.
This is located in Shem Creek for paddle board/kayak rentals. Good location to see some of the popular Shem Creek area (and maybe some dolphins!) and grab lunch/drinks after.
This well known bridge connects downtown Charleston to Mount Pleasant. They have a walking and biking lane separated from the bridge that you can enter from downtown or from Mount Pleasant (parking at Patriots Point or Shell gas station for the Mount Pleasant side).
If you are interested in golfing there are many courses to choose from in the area, including Patriots Point, Wild Dunes, Kiawah (further out), etc.
If you like seafood you won't regret. It is worth the wait. Best way to do it is to go when they open up, then shop on King Street. Or put your name in and shop while you wait. A nearby rooftop bar to get drinks while you wait is The Watch. We love to get their oysters, lobster roll, swordfish pastrami, ceviche, and frose.
Downtown Charleston has a number of rooftop bars, Stars is right on King Street (Ashleigh used to work there when she first moved to Charleston). Other rooftop bars are The Watch, The Dewberry, Vendue, Pavilion Bar, and Uptown Social.
