If you make it Chania (easy day trip from Rethymno), we strongly recommend making this your first stop. A true old-school institution that has been around for over 95 years serving the traditional Greek dessert Bougatsa. https://greekcitytimes.com/2020/09/27/iordanis-bougatsa/
Somewhat "hidden" in the old town, this is a great outdoor place for food, drinks and good music. Reservations are highly recommended. Try their signature drinks, which are all named after Greek mythological characters.
We had lunch here once, but wish it had been a few more times! Great spot for people-watching too.
This is where you want to come for your gyro fix in old-town Rethymno
For a fun night out in Crete's largest city, this pedestrian-only street is the place to be. Lots of great restaurants and bars full of mostly locals. Taverna Firi Firi was the one place that was able to sit us without a reservation on a busy Saturday evening and it did not disappoint! The Dakos were on point and the ouzo very refreshing!
This is the place for seafood!
Great way to get your bearings in this large city. Tour guides are very knowledgeable and entertaining. Tours are offered in English and Spanish
One of the hidden gems we found during our last trip to Athens. Perfect for lunch or dinner. We highly recommend the Sachanaki Karamanlidiko and the sausage platter. Wash it all down with a cold Zeos
Located in the "Stairs of Plaka"; one of the most vibrant areas in Athens. Great cafe/bakery with excellent vegetarian options.
Also located on the stairs, this is where we had our last meal in Athens before coming back home in 2021 and we couldn't have picked a better place! Great meze selections, wine and atmosphere!
Looking for a rooftop with great views of the Acropolis? This is the place!
Another rooftop option with great views of the city
If you make it Milos, this is the one activity you must do. Nothing beats spending a full day sailing around the island, soaking the Aegean sun, sipping wine, eating fresh seafood and swimming in clear turquoise waters.
Perhaps THE best restaurant in the island of Milos, and the only one that offers dishes native to the island. They do not take reservations and if you arrive past 7pm the wait may be long, but its absolutely worth it.
We stumbled upon this bar after enjoying the sunset and it was the perfect place for a nightcap. Lots of great house cocktails!
Highly recommended that you make a reservation and request a table with a view of the caldera. Seafood is fresh and the wine refreshing.
Tired of walking under the sun and looking to get away from the crowds? This rooftop bar may be the solution!....
....or if you are doing the same but in the opposite direction and looking for an ice cold drink
Among all the restaurants in Oia, Santorini, this is perhaps the most authentic one we found and the most reasonably priced. The views of the famous Santorini Windmills are also a plus!
