Things to Do

The Wedding Website of Sam Eckmann and Chris Totten
Gowanus, Brooklyn, is where our wedding venue is located. And our recommended hotels are in neighboring Boerum Hill. A former industrial zone, Gowanus is now a hub for artists and entrepreneurs. You can expect to see converted warehouses, row houses, and the famous canal that was once so toxic from years of industrial pollution and sewage that it had a murky ‘lavender’ color to it. Boerum Hill is known for its gorgeous tree-lined streets and historic brownstone homes. The commercial area of the neighborhood is host to local boutiques, cozy restaurants and bars, and art galleries. This page mostly focuses on local Brooklyn hotspots. To find a complete list of ideas, including Broadway, museums, and more, please see the linked Trip Guide Document!
