Flight
AIRLINES All major airlines fly into PVR (American, Alaskan, United, Delta, Southwest, Interjet, Sun Country, Aeromexico, Volaris, etc). A great way to run fares is by using www.google.com/flights. The only airline that doesn't pull up on google flights is Southwest, so make sure to check those fares separately. On our trips to PVR, our roundtrip flights from Reno have been anywhere from $250 to $400 depending on the dates. GOING THROUGH THE AIRPORT Going through customs is quick and easy at PVR. Once you get through customs - you will walk through a corridor where people will try to sell you timeshares, activities, transportation - IGNORE THEM ALL and keep walking until you are outside the terminal. These people wear badges and tell you that they work for the airport, they will ask you your name and check a list and tell you that you need to talk to them - you do not, just ignore them and walk on through!
Travel Note
Roundtrip transportation from the airport to Sayulita is $140 (USD). This includes a stop at a supermarket. The companies we recommend are: 1) Amanecer Transportation - email amanecersayulita@gmail.com and reference the "Drew+Andrew Wedding" in your email. 2) Jose Ramos Transportation - email marijoseramos@yahoo.com.mx 3) Sayulita Suburban and Van Services - https://www.sayulitalife.com/sayulita-suburban There are many different companies on www.sayulitalife.com that provide transportation from PVR to Sayulita as well. The "shuttles" are actually large suburbans - they are nice, the drivers speak English and provide you with a cold water or beer at the airport. We DO recommend stopping at the market & stocking up on any food, drinks, alcohol you may want. Sayulita doesn't have a supermarket, only convenience stores. The supermarket is like Walmart - has everything imaginable. It's also a great place to pull out some pesos at the ATM (Sayulita has several ATMs as well).
Travel Note
Generally, you will want to use pesos in most establishments in Sayulita. A few will accept US dollars, but the exchange rate varies, and is not in your favor. You will most likely get a better rate from your bank prior to departure to Mexico, at a currency exchange in the airport, or - our personal preference - by using the ATMs in the supermarket on the way out to Sayulita. We do bring some US dollars to tip the cleaning staff.
