One February night in 2017, Jess and Paige (her cousin & bridesmaid) had been enjoying what they thought was just another typical night out in Asbury, NJ. They found themselves at good ol’ “Skratch” or formerly (& more commonly) known as “the Bank on Mattison”. It was on one (of many) trips to the bathroom when Paige had run into a group of friends from highschool. This just so happened to be the same group Josh had made friends with, and was out with, in his time of living in Neptune, NJ. As Paige was catching up with her friends, Jess and Josh got to small talk. Before the conversation brought to a closure, Josh had asked Jess, “want to exchange snapchats?”
August 23, 2017 was the official first date. They enjoyed a refreshing Biergarten beer and spent the rest of the evening walking the Asbury Boardwalk talking and getting to know each other. They shared their first sweet and simple kiss on the bridge they had yet to know would become so memorable
It was May 24th, 2021 when Josh had Jess believing they were on just another one of their "Date Days" they have when they feel life has been busy and they needed quality time together. It started with lunch at Asbury Ale House. After lunch they went on a stroll through town to enjoy a beautiful day. ..remember that bridge? You got it! Josh had found himself on one knee, proposing to Jess, in the same spot, on that beautiful bridge that overlooked the historic Asbury Boardwalk. He had everything planned perfectly as there was a photographer there to capture the true proposal as well as a planned photoshoot. They finished the day with one final surprise of their immediate family waiting at dinner at Robins Ale House to all celebrate together the next chapter in their lives. Fun fact: The coordinates of that bridge were engraved within the promise ring Josh had gifted Jess for Christmas one year.
