There is so much to do and explore around Traverse City and in the nearby towns! We hope you take time to see the area in between the wedding events. Below are a few recommendations. This area has something for everyone, whether it's relaxing by the lake, playing a game of golf, eat and drink at delicious restaurants and vineyards, having fun at the beach or the local parks, and finding hidden gems at local shops. We hope you love it as much as we do.

Downtown Traverse City

Explore, shop, and eat in downtown traverse city! This is a very short drive from the resort. Lots to enjoy here. Coffee at Outpost, the State Theater, Food at Poppycocks, and more!

Leland

Leland, MI 49654

If you have a car, take a short drive to visit Leland, Michigan! This is where most of Chris' family lives. There is lots to do here - wineries, shops, bookstores, historic fishtown (go to the cheese shanty to get a sandwich!).

Blue Angels Air Show & Practice

West Grand Traverse Bay, MI

The Blue Angels will be doing their air show from 1-4 PM on Saturday June 29th and Sunday June 30th. You'll get a great view of the air show on Saturday during the Wedding Lunch from the Aerie Restaurant at the resort. You can also check out their practice session on Thursday June 27th 9-11 AM and 3-4:30 PM or Friday June 28th from 1-4 PM. The best place to view the practice or show is on any beaches on the West Grand Traverse Bay.

National Cherry Festival

Traverse City is known for its delicious cherries, and National Cherry Festival happens to kick off the weekend of our wedding! There will be lots of events throughout town kicking off that are worth checking out, especially if you're staying a few days after the wedding!

Paddle TC

Lots of sailing and kayaking activities that you can find on the beach in Traverse City! We've kayaked with Paddle TC before. It's very fun!

Sleeping Bear Dunes

Beautiful hiking trails and sights of the lake! We love walking the amazing sand dunes. If you're looking to get into nature, this is a great stop to make.

The Botanic Garden at Historic Barns Park

The Bear Golf Course

There are lots of places to golf in Traverse City! Chris worked at a golf course at the Traverse City Country Club for many years. There's even a fantastic golf course right at the resort that you can book and play.
