This is one of my personal favorite NYC treasures. Home to 30 Rockefeller studios where SNL is filmed--The Today Show viewing windows, the Iconic Radio City Music Hall--it's full of history and a beautiful gem in the heart of Manhattan. You can get a guided tour of NBC studios or go to the "Top of the Rock" to see awesome views of the city. No ice skating in august--but feel free to enjoy some of the outdoor dining they set up on the rink instead:)
We hope and pray that by the time our wedding happens--you may be able to catch a Broadway show---but regardless, you can still walk through Times Square---the lights are STILL bright here even though the city is so badly missing it's entertainment industry and the naked cowboy, scary Elmo, Mickey and Minnie are all still there---so if you must....have at it;)
One World Trade Center is the main building of the rebuilt World Trade Center complex in Lower Manhattan, New York City. One WTC is the tallest building in the United States, the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, and the sixth-tallest in the world. There is an observation deck that you can partake in--and tons of shopping and dining in the area. This is also where the 9/11 memorial and museum are located.
The High Line is a 1.5 mile elevated park built on top of a former NYC Railroad starting in the meatpacking district through Chelsea and all the way up to 34th street (Hudson Yards) on the West side. Fun stops off of the high line are Chelsea Market, Chelsea piers loads of local eateries and lots of art along the route. Beware--it is a linear park so when it's busy, it makes it a bit harder to navigate as the pathway is extremely narrow--but it's a really fun park of the city and incredible piece of architecture.
This museum is NYC's version of the Louvre and the largest art museum in the US. This museum will probably require the most amount of time (about 3-5 hours for the permanent collection) so plan accordingly if this is a must see on your list:)
If contemporary and modern is more your style--the MoMA is known for it's creativity inspiring work. This museum is awesome and always has specific exhibits that are limited time only--so be sure to check out what's happening in August. (Approx 2 hours)
