Our story started as most do this day in age, Facebook. Mutual friends had led us to add each other. I messaged her first asking for her Snapchat. We exchanged snaps and messages for awhile, but never expected anything of it. There was just a connection that could not be ignored. Weeks went by and our schedules never would line up to finally meet. Foothills festival was approaching and I knew that would be the best bet to finally meet this girl, who I had wanted to just sit down and talk to face to face. We met at Tallulah Brewing later on the night of the festival, instantly I knew she was special. Her smile was lighting up the entire patio. Music was drowned out by her stories of work and her family, which was one that seemed like one in a million. We exchanged numbers that night. It was just a great beginning to a wonderful relationship. Our first date was at Gabby’s for breakfast. She worked nights so that was the only logical time to be together. After breakfast dates and a few dinner dates, Shelbie asked me to stay with her after she had an oral surgery. Good excuse, right? That was the first time I stayed and last time I wanted to be anywhere else. She was it, the one. I would not want to do life with anyone else. The Proposal. We took a week long trip to the beach inviting some friends on the way. A few got to come down for a couple of wild nights and several of pizza and movie nights. The time had come for the big question, “will you marry me?” Waking up it was a cloudy with a little mist of rain. We got ready to go eat but the ladies wanted to take pictures first. I knew it was my chance to pop the question. As I got down on one knee, all the clouds disappeared and the rain stopped. Sun shined down on her gorgeous face as it became blushed with embarrassment and joy as I got down on one knee. She said yes while beach goers cheered for us. I had never been so happy. Shelbie and I still thank our lucky stars and God for bringing us together every day.
