In 2012, I was at a meeting pretending to pay attention to a possible new business partner, when out of nowhere the most exotic woman I had ever seen passed by the office window with short black hair, sharp green eyes and a tight red dress. It was as if the heavens parted and placed my dream girl right in front of me. I had to compose myself and remember where exactly I was. I left that day landing the deal, but the real goal was to land the girl. The opportunity was to sell life insurance for this agency, but I soon realized that this move had nothing to do with insurance and everything to do with my life. The events that followed would radically change our entire universe. Though I had barely spoken to her, I knew that I was in love. I mean everything about her was exactly what I was looking for. She was beautiful, smart, from another country and most importantly, she was a straight up hustler! I was turned on when she would close people on the phone, and so proud of her when she broke the office records for most policies sold in a month. The only problem was she had no idea I felt this way and like a teenager, I would get nervous around her. As fate would have it, I was invited by the owner of the agency to attend their Christmas party at Blue Martini. Though I really did not want to go to an “office” party, I figured this would be my opportunity to get to know Claudia better. So, there I was bored, forced to talk with an old lady that smelled bad and some young lady that wouldn’t keep her hands off of me. Even though I had a few drinks in me, I knew I had to stay focused on the prize instead of the mango bajito. Claudia of course was out on the dance floor half the time and it was impossible to get her attention. Then finally a ray of hope… it was picture time. So, I took a shot or maybe three, crossed my fingers and like some obsessed weirdo, I maneuvered my way to be next to her. Immediately after the picture, I struck up a conversation. That lead to another
...topic, which lead to another and before you knew it, we were laughing, finding things in common and making plans to go scuba diving together. This is when we first found out that we both had a passion for commercial real estate and that I could give her some pointers for passing the real estate license. The night went by fast and when we looked around, we were surprised to find that no one else from the office was there and we were left with a fully paid bill and an extra bottle of grey goose. The next two questions where, do you mind if I invite my twin sister and do you like to dance? So that night I met Natalie & Nilser, who had no clue that all 4 of us would be soon living together and luckily to that grey goose not only did I confidently dance the night away, but I tricked Claudia into thinking that this gringo can move, and as they say… the rest is history! So here is a snap shot of that history and how you end up traveling to the other side of the world to celebrate with us. We had no idea that night that an everlasting bond would be formed but in less than one year we found ourselves jumping out a plane to celebrate our birthdays. We had been hiding our relationship at the office while planning our escape. Claudia was about to graduate, and we will soon be owners of a commercial real estate brokerage. In this short amount of time we realized that at one point in our past lives we were one and somehow, our soul was split into two, only for us to finally be reunited in this life, it felt amazing, the rush is something like jumping out of a plane. Anyways, everyone knows that Claudia was born in Cuba but few know that she was conceived in Zimbabwe, Africa and lived there till she was 3. When I heard this story from her mom and how much Africa meant to their family, I knew I was taking Claudia there to begin our life as one. So, with the Victoria Falls mist hitting our faces, I got down on one knee and she agreed to continue our journey together, once again!
