The town that time forgot

When we got engaged in September 2020, our initial thought was that we would have the grand wedding of our dreams the following October in 2021. As Diana began to research and tour venues, it dawned on everyone that we just didn't know if a "traditional" wedding would be possible given the COVID-19 situation. Even a year in the future. The next phase of planning turned into "small family only wedding in 2021, large wedding with everyone in 2022." After much deliberation and many sleepless nights (at least on Diana's part) they decided the single, small wedding in 2021 was the best way to proceed. Missing out on the aspects of the big, "traditional" wedding will be very difficult. Not having our friends and extended family present during our celebration really breaks our hearts. We hope to be able to do something in the future with all those who we'll miss. And please know that you will be on our mind.

We both "swiped right" on Bumble, a dating app where the female has to take the initiative and reach out first. In the beginning, it was mainly Danny telling Diana where he was watching live music and asking if she wanted to join, while Diana tried fruitlessly to get him to talk via text before meeting in person! Finally, he managed to invite himself to a friend's birthday party she was going to at Caddies on Cordell. Her thought was "at least if it doesn't work out there will be a ton of other people around to pawn him off on" Apparently, Danny saw Diana speaking with her friend Inga and decided that Diana's departure to the restroom was the perfect time at which to ingratiate himself with her friend. It worked. Diana emerged from the bathroom and saw Inga and Danny deep in conversation. The conversation between the three of them (yes Inga was present for 90% of their first date) continued all night. Diana took Danny to her favorite place in Bethesda where he literally met almost all her friends- the first date! Danny took to the jukebox at Saphire Cafe like he'd had the app on his phone for years. Soon, friends were walking over to Diana asking "are you on a date with this guy?" to which she responded "I don't know!" The friendliness and ease with which Danny seamlessly entered Diana's life made it hard for her to tell what he had in mind. It wasn't until a well-timed kiss later in the evening that he made his intentions known. The second date was live music, third date was the new Star Wars movie, then Chinese food and Moana.... On New Years Eve 2018, at midnight, Danny sent a text to Diana saying he wished he could kiss her. That was it. She was smitten. They made their relationship "official" the first week of January 2018 and the rest, as they say, is history.
