Diamond and Kevin's love for each other began on the campus of UGA in Summer '16. Kevin's eyes were captivated as soon as he noticed Diamond laughing at something he'd said from across the room of a house party. She radiated confidence and beauty that had to be explored. They wouldn't talk to each other that night, but Kevin reached out to his fraternity brothers to see who knew this girl that had stolen his heart. Kevin was determined to get to know this queen. Kevin strategized how to make the best possible first impression. He got her number from a friend and texted Diamond "Hey Diamond, my name is Kevin. I'm an Alpha at UGA, the light-skinned one. I got your number from a friend. We're going to have another kickback soon, and I was wondering if you could come." Despite Kevin's not-so-thought-out and awkward strategy, God opened Diamond's heart. Diamond did not attend this kickback, but Kevin persisted and they would later go on their first date at Agua Linda Mexican Restaurant. Their connection was real, dynamic, and yet, easy. They connected in areas of music, family, and even the loss of loved ones. From there, the two traveled across the country including the Dominican Republic and a Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa concert. As they continued their education they also continued to grow closer in their relationship

Kevin and Diamond planned to have a photoshoot in the natural setting of Flowery Branch, GA. They took pictures on the lake and throughout the forest with their favorite R & B songs playing along. Kevin rowed Diamond in a canoe across the lake making her feel like royalty. On the opposite side of the lake was an intimate area featuring a cross. After pictures were taken, Kevin spoke about James 1:17, "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows." He spoke with honesty and love as he got down on one knee asking for Diamond's hand in marriage. She was in complete shock and disbelief! So much so that all she could reply was "mhmm! mhmm!" through her tears! She screamed, laughed, and praised God with her favorite person celebrating the mark of their new beginning. But the surprise was not over! After the proposal, Kevin surprised Diamond with both their families who brought even more love and joy to this day! Diamond could barely stand at this point! To top off the excitement, everyone was able to enjoy Chick-Fil-A during the family meeting... on a Sunday! Our engagement was unique, intimate, and filled with God's love.
