Just over 13 years ago my brother Arturo left his computer unattended. I logged on Myspace one evening and friended Gene. We instantly began messaging each other daily despite the risk of being catfished. This went on for a few months until Gene eventually asked me to meet up with him. It turned out we lived in different states, so we began a long distance relationship on March 16, 2008. Gene traveled to Houston, TX on December 15, 2008 to meet me and the rest is history. Shout out to my brother Arturo for letting me use his computer and Carlos for creating my MySpace profile. Also, cannot forget Tom for creating MySpace wherever he may be. 😉

Gene told me he booked a trip to Hawaii and I could not believe it. I was so excited that I packed our luggage a week and a half early. Gene booked Disney's Aulani Resort and it was just as amazing as advertised. We had an incredible first day exploring Kualoa Ranch. It was a fun, but exhausting day; however, Gene had one more surprise in mind. He suggested we take a walk around the resort. We came across a green, secluded lawn area near the ocean. I was trying to take a picture of the Resort under the moonlight. There was a light breeze and the waves of the ocean were crashing against the shoreline. Gene started reminiscing about the past. He brought up our early years on social media to all the journeys we had together. He asked me to sit on a large rock nearby, then got on one knee and asked me to marry him. I said yes as I proceeded to ugly cry 😭😆. It was truly magical and a night I will never forget.
