Catalina Express

For transportation to and from Catalina Island, Avalon, please book your ferry ticket with Catalina Express. Catalina Express offers up to 30 round-trips daily and operates from three different ports. The port you will be traveling to is Avalon. I would suggest to leave from Long Beach or San Pedro terminal, as they’re closest ports to Los Angeles. You will find detailed information on routes and scheduled departures on the “Schedule and Fares” page on the website. Reservations are strongly recommended. You can book your trip with the reservation agents by calling 800.995.4386 or online at CatalinaExpress.com. Parking is not included in the ticket price. The parking at all of the terminals are not owned or operated by Catalina Express. You are also welcome to use Uber or Lyft to get to the Long Beach terminal. Check-in time is an hour before departure. Reservations are held up until 15 min prior to departure. You must check-in even if you have a reservation. Printing out your reservation confirmation is highly encouraged to allow for a smooth check-in process. If you are unable to print your confirmation, the ticket agent will still be able to find your reservation as long as you have the confirmation number. Avalon Taxi Service

Upon your arrival to Catalina Island, there will be taxis to meet every boat when they dock at the boat terminal. It is highly recommended that you take a taxi or rent a golf cart to get to the Descanso Beach Club. Ferry terminal to Descanso Beach Club is .9 mile away (18 min walk). What to lookout for: At the top of the boat terminal you will see our yellow sign for Taxi. If one is not there when you arrive, please call our taxi dispatcher at (310) 510-0025 and another taxi will be dispatched to you. Taxis are available: Sunday, Monday & Thursday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., Tuesday & Wednesday 7am - 9 pm Friday & Saturday 7am - 11pm Fares: • All taxis are Toyota Sienna minivans that hold up to 7 passengers with luggage • Please contact our taxi dispatcher at (310) 510-0025 30 minutes prior to desired pickup time.

Upon your arrival to Catalina Island, there is a rental shop place .1 mile away (2 min walk) from the ferry terminal. If you choose not to take a taxi to the venue, this could be a good option for those who plan to stay the night or the weekend.

Airbnb Stay

If you do decide to stay a night in Catalina Island, Avalon - Airbnb’s do tend to offer more bang for your buck. They also include golf carts with the home rental as well, whereas hotels don’t. However, the hotels are closer to all the main attractions, within walking distance, which you wouldn’t necessarily need a golf cart. -penny for your thoughts

Travel Note

LAX Airport

This is the suggested airport to fly into when visiting, as it’s the closest one to the Long Beach Ferry Terminal. There is also the option to fly into Burbank airport, but typically they don’t have non stop flights. When you arrive at LAX airport, if you’re taking an Uber, Lyft or a taxi, you will need to take LAX-IT shuttle bus to the rideshare pick-up location. These busses have designated stopping points at each terminal pillar, and typical runs every seven minutes, and they’re free! Otherwise, if you don’t feel like waiting, there is an option to take Uber Black, this is the only Uber option that will pick up in front of the terminals (it is pricey, especially if it’s high peak times).
