FAQs

Question

When do I need to RSVP by?

Answer

Please RSVP no later than July 1st. The earlier the better! As this is a destination wedding, we ask for you to book your flight as soon as possible to be able to make it.

Question

Do I need a Passport?

Answer

Yes! Please make sure your passport is valid, or leave ample time to renew or get one. Passports generally take 7-10 weeks + mailing time. You can also expedite the passport process for an additional fee. For more information, visit https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/how-apply.html Please note: you do not need a passport to book your flights, but you must have a valid passport at the time of check-in for your flights. If you're sure you're able to attend and want to book your flights (the earlier the better as prices tend to increase over time) you can do so without a passport.

Question

Can I use my phone outside of the country?

Answer

We recommend you download WhatsApp on your phone. It is an international messaging app (similar to texting) and a great way to communicate with everyone while you are in Mexico and not be charged international travel fees by your cellular carrier. All of the car companies, hotels and airbnbs will use this app to communicate with you about your upcoming stay and travel plans. It's extremely helpful and straightforward to use! Start to familiarize yourself with it now if it's new to you!

Question

Is there a room block?

Answer

There is no room block, as there are many wonderful boutique hotels in the area and options like Airbnb that may offer more flexibility and budget-friendly choices. This way, you can find the accommodation that suits you best! We recommend you stay in Zona Centro or as close to it as possible and booking early to secure your preferred option.

Question

How do I get around once I arrive in San Miguel?

Answer

The whole city is fairly small and is extremely walkable. It takes about 20 minutes to walk from one end to the other. At any point, you can orient yourself to the central square by looking for the tall Cathedral or "Parroquia". Be sure to bring some comfortable shoes or wedges for walking on cobblestone streets. Taxis and Ubers are plentiful. You can go anywhere around the city center for under $5 USD. If you use a taxi, negotiate the price upfront. Expect to pay around 60-75 pesos during the day, and upwards of a 100 pesos at night. Approximately 100 pesos = $5-6 USD, depending on the current exchange rate.

Question

Will everyone be allowed to bring a + 1?

Answer

Please note that due to venue capacity and our desire to keep the event intimate, we kindly ask that only those whose names are listed on the invitation attend the celebration. We appreciate your understanding and can't wait to share this special day with you!

Question

Are children invited?

Answer

To ensure that everyone can fully relax and enjoy the evening, we kindly request that our wedding be an event for guests ages 18 and older. We appreciate your understanding and making arrangements ahead of time so you can celebrate with us!

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

While we can't predict the exact forecast, we can tell you that the average temperature in San Miguel de Allende in September, for a typical day, ranges from a high of 77°F (25°C) to a low of 50°F (10°C). Some would describe it as warm temperatures with a gentle breeze. September is the end of the rainy season in this region, packing an umbrella or light raincoat would be a good idea!

Question

What is the currency in Mexico?

Answer

The currency is the Mexican Peso. Please note that Mexican pesos and USD use the same $ symbol, so always clarify currency. While you might be able to get away with only using USD, we love using pesos for street vendors, taxis, and bargaining while shopping. There are multiple ATM's located around the central plaza or "El Jardin". Almost everywhere else accepts Credit Cards.
