There is a black sand beach that you can enjoy while staying at the plantation! We don’t know the name of it but if you’re staying at the plantation we highly recommend taking advantage of it!
Chicken in a Barrel is one of the only restaurants located in Waimea and is located at the front of the plantation cottages. Although we have not personally eaten there, we have enjoyed their BEER WALL, which is incredible! There’s cornhole on the deck and it is just a few minutes walk to the cottages and venue!
Jojo’s shave ice is a few minutes walk from the venue if you’re looking for some local shave ice!
Umi’s is a small liquor store in Waimea for any alcohol you might need in town, just a few minutes from the venue.
Ishihara Market is a local grocery mart where you can get some grocery essentials as well as fresh poke and other local goodies! It’s just a short walk from our venue as well!
Captain Andy’s is a must if you want to see Kauai in a whole new beautiful way. The Napali Coast Snorkeling Tour is one of the most amazing experiences to see first hand and the crew that runs Captain Andy’s is always a really good time. Captain Andy’s is only 15 minutes away from our venue also! We recommend booking your trip with Captain Andy’s at least a few months in advance as they do book up fast!
Poipu Beach is a very popular beach that we highly recommend while you’re on Kauai. It’s about 30 minutes from our venue and a few hotels that we recommend are smack dab on that beach, including Koloa Landing and The Marriott. Make sure you swim out to the sand bar while you’re at this beach and you’re almost guaranteed to see a ton of fish and maybe even some turtles!
Keoki’s is a favorite of ours for both lunch and dinner. It is located in Poipu, about 30 minutes from our venue. It has the most beautiful open views with live music on the weekends and is only a few minutes walk from Poipu beach! It is located in a market place with other shops and restaurants around as well!
If you’re looking for ice cream, 30 minutes away from the venue is Lapperts!
If you’re looking for a beautiful restaurant with amazing food and great views the dolphin in Poipu is a great choice. The sushi is amazing and it’s only about 30 minutes away from the venue! There are plenty of shops around the restaurant including there own fish market, where you can get fresh fish and poke bowls! Make a reservation if you can because this place does get busy!
If you have a chance to go to Kauai ATV, do it! You’re going to get dirty, but it is worth it for the pure fun and excitement! The tours are in Koloa, about 35 minutes from our venue and you get to see parts of where the filmed Jurassic park was filmed!
We recommend before getting into wherever you are staying, that you stop in Lihue and grab your groceries at Costco, Target, Safeway, CVS etc.. These shops are all located walking distance from one another and are all great options to get essential groceries and needs for your trip on Kauai! The shopping area is located 37 minutes from our venue.
Booking an adventure through Kauai Backcountry Adventures is a must while you’re visiting the island. The zip line course shows you unreal views or do their tubing adventure for some cool water views! This place is run by a good friend of ours so we know you you will not be disappointed! Book these in advance because they book up quickly!
Kalapaki Beach is one of our favorite beaches, located in Lihue. This beach has volleyball courts to play on as well as hotels, shops and restaurants to enjoy while you're there! This beach is about 45 minutes away from our venue and about 5 minutes away from the airport.
Dukes is a staple on Kauai and a favorite of ours that we recommend. The restaurant is located on Kalapki Beach and is about 40 minutes from our venue!
One of our favorite restaurants on the island about 50 minutes away from the venue is Kintaro. Their sushi is amazing but the wontons are literal heaven. Make sure you make a reservation because as of now they don’t take walk ins! They are only open for dinner starting at 5 pm and are closed on Sunday’s.
Smiths Luau is our recommended Luau on the island. The luau is in a botanical garden and is open during the month of August, Monday through Friday only. Smiths recommends you book your luau at least 7 weeks in advance! Smiths is located in Wailua, about 50 minutes away from our venue.
Pono Market is a small Hawaiian market place where you can get local plate lunches. It is our favorite local food on Kauai and it might be everyone else’s too. If you want a plate lunch, you’ll need to get to pono market before 11 am. They sell out quickly so the earlier you go the more options you’ll have! They rotate the menu daily but the fried chicken and pork lau lau are a constant and you should make a point to try both if you can! Pono market is located in Kapaa, about 50 minutes from our venue!
Lava Lava Beach Club is a great beach front restaurant about 50 minutes from our venue. It’s located next to Kauai Shores Hotel and Coconut Marketplace in Kapa’a. We recommend happy hour over there as it’s not quite as busy as dinner! They do not take reservations so first come first serve!
Anini Beach is hands down our favorite beach. If you wanna lounge in the water all day, with a cocktail and floaty, this beach is for you. This beach is on the opposite side of the island from the venue, about an hour and 45 minutes away, but it is a must while you are on Kauai, and worth the drive. Don't forget to stop at Foodland in Princeville and get a poke bowl before heading to Anini!
The best local grocery store and our personal favorite. It’s a bit of a drive from the venue, about an hour and 45 minutes, but if you’re headed out to anini beach or hanalei bay you have to stop at food land and get some poke before doing so!
Queen's Bath is something you truly need to see once in your life! It’s a little bit of a hike, but it’s not bad, and it’s worth it for the photos alone, not to mention the turtles and fish you might get to see, the rocks you can jump off of and the scenic views! Make sure you go early because parking fills up fast or you can enter through the Princeville resort. Queens bath is about 53 miles away in Princeville and the time to get there varies based on traffic!
Hanalei Bay on the North Shore of Kauai is another must visit beach. This beach has one of the most gorgeous mountain views you'll ever see. Jump off the pier if you're feeling crazy while you're at it! Hanalei Bay is on the opposite side of the island, 55 miles away. The drive time varies based on traffic but can range from an hour and a half to 2 plus hours so prepare for an all day adventure!
Do yourself a favor and go the the dolphin in Hanalei and we promise you will not be disappointed. Order the steak and lobster and the hanalei roll and thank us later! This restaurant doesn’t open until 5 for dinner, and there dinner list starts at 4:30. We recommend getting on the list at 4:30 and while you wait for your table at 5, go and visit the other local shops around the restaurant! This restaurant is located in Hanalei, and the drive time ranges based on traffic!
