To get to Oaxaca, fly into Xoxocotlán International Airport (OAX). For those planning to fly in on Thursday, be aware that AeroMexico is notorious for cancelations and VERY LONG delays. We're talking 10+ hours. There are direct flights from the US to Oaxaca from the cities listed below: o Houston o Dallas o Los Angeles We recommend flying direct to Oaxaca as the airport is so small and easy to navigate. If you do connect through Mexico City, please allow for extra time to go through customs and get to your terminal. The Mexico City airport is GIGANTIC (the 3rd largest airport in the world). It has two terminals that are connected via train and require re-entering security. If you are planning to connect via different airlines, check which terminal each airline flies out of to make sure you give yourself sufficient time. If transferring from Mexico City to your flight onto Oaxaca City, 1) make sure to monitor information via the flight number, not the takeoff time, as this airport has a tendency to post the boarding time not the departure time of a flight and 2) they do not announce the gate until they are about to start boarding.

Once you’ve cleared customs, look for a booth that says “Taxi.” The taxi service is $5/person group shuttles (colectivo) or $15-20 individual taxis (especial). Have your address ready to show. You can pay with pesos or with a credit card. After paying, exit, cross the street & the shuttles are on the left (drivers wear the same clothes). Show your receipt & give your final destination. The driver will direct you to the appropriate taxi.
House Or Rental
Airbnb is generally the most affordable lodging option in Oaxaca and is great for both individuals and bigger groups. There are many options ranging from smaller apartments to large homes. It's very trustworthy and most stays are within walking distance of the city center. We recommend searching within the Centro neighborhood. Templo de Santo Domingo (shown as a camera on the Airbnb map) is the heart of the Centro district if you're looking for a marker on the map. Anything within 6-8 blocks of Templo de Santo Domingo will put you well within walking distance of all of the wedding events, as well as the city's best restaurants and shopping.
