Double check the hours before you go, but the hallmark of Newport travel is visiting a Newport Mansion. Built in the Gilded Age, these various properties are a glance into the lives of the wealthiest Americans of the late 1800s.
If you have a vehicle, cruise Ocean Drive which is a 25 minute loop past the ocean and privately owned mansions. Start by going down Bellevue Avenue (towards "Brenton Point") and just follow the signs from there.
Center of Newport, a great place to start for shops, restaurants, and scenic views. (It is also next to the Newport Harbor Hotel & Marina and The Landing.)
Walkable shopping, dining, and quaint fun stops.
"Where the locals go," but we locals keep telling everybody about it! More restaurants, shopping, and unexpected stores. Broadway holds a lot of special value to us! Cabana, formerly Salvation Cafe, is where Rob and Alex had their first date on May 22, 2021. Walk a bit further to the Firehouse Theater, and you'll see the venue where Rob performs improv with the BitPlayers Improv Troupe. Across the street from there is Parlor Bar & Kitchen, where the D'Agostino/Pauls/and Friends New Years Eve Wedding Party went as an afterparty location.
Were we got married! They may not be open convenient hours while you are visiting, but if you get a chance to stop by Washington Square, see the historic venue we used on New Years Eve 2022 for our ceremony and private screening of "When Harry Met Sally."
Another historic town outside Aquidneck Island. This is a really special mansion that we love that is very different from the mega mansions of Newport. The property holds a unique house, expansive gardens and an arboretums. Quaint Bristol also hosts the oldest Fourth of July parade in America, so there is also a lot of fun in driving through the old town.
Alex worked at the Museum of Newport History at one time, and still loves their walking tours. A lot of cool subjects to choose from, only about an hour long, could be nice to do early morning!
Samantha (sister of the bride!) works here! It is a cute boutique in the heart of downtown. Plus it is near The Landing if you wanted an early peek at the reception venue.
