In 2014, Tom and Danielle were both working as Field Directors at an organization called Americans for Prosperity. At the time, Danielle was working for the Pennsylvania state chapter and Tom was in West Virginia. In April of that year, AFP brought together Field Directors from around the country for a staff training in Boston. During a team happy hour that first night, Danielle noticed that the West Virginia team was new and didn't know most of the other staff there. Danielle wanted to be friendly so she went over to Tom and his coworker to introduce herself. For the next few days, Tom and Danielle got to know each other during various team dinners and outings. They initially bonded over their love of all things Disney and the movie Pitch Perfect (which Tom will deny of course). After this trip, they continued to stay in touch as friends and saw each other at various work events throughout the year. Staying in touch turned into talking almost everyday for the next 3 years. Even when Tom left AFP for Law School and Danielle moved to Northern Virginia, they always found a way to talk to spend time together. During the summer of 2017, when Tom was home in Virginia for summer break, they went to dozens of Nats games together and that's where their connection grew into something more. Danielle was the one who made the first move and told Tom she wanted to be more than "just friends". Shortly thereafter, they started dating and the rest is history. Now, they both live together in Alexandria, Virginia and they are so thrilled to be able to celebrate their love story with friends and family this October!
