Can’t wait to celebrate with you!

It was a few months in the making. We met through friends and knew it was something special from the very beginning. From Lauren commenting to a friend that Mike was “the boy version of me”, to Mike winning a dance off with a bachelorette party on the first date, these two peas found their pod. All the laughs and karaoke along the way make this story truly wonderful. We couldn’t be more excited to start the next chapter of our lives together or to have you be a part of it!

The plan was a birthday party in April 2020 at an amazing beach house on Lake Michigan. Covid had other plans. The date of the original (cancelled) party brought snow and freezing rain. A week later, Lauren’s Birthday came with hopes of 60 degree weather, sun and a beach picnic. It brought 40 degrees and raining! With plan B a bust, Mike decorated the house with Schitts Creek themed decorations (Lauren’s favorite show) and planned a zoom for that night with everyone that was supposed to be at the party. Everyone took a turn telling funny stories about Lauren or saying sweet things about their relationship. Between the laughs, Mike snuck off to his office where he was hiding the ring. When it was his turn, he told the story of when we saw Noah Reid sing “Simply The Best” at a Schitts Creek Live event. He said, “Lauren was crying the whole time and all I wanted to do was this....” getting down on one knee and opening a small green hinged box. Lauren covered her face and started crying, stopping to shake her head and squeak out a completely surprised and thrilled “YES!”. Later, Mike told Lauren that the Zoom was plan C and he was so stressed about everything working out. It was truly the most perfect gift quarantine could have given them.
