Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and in the spirit of mutual aid and community care, we kindly ask that our guests take the following precautions to keep our wedding as safe as possible: 1. Unless medically ineligible, all guests must be up-to-date on COVID vaccines and boosters. 2. We are asking all guests to wear KN95 masks while traveling, including in airports, on planes, trains, buses, etc. We will happily mail guests an KN95 if they are having difficulty accessing one. 3. All guests must take rapid antigen tests prior to entering the ceremony or reception. If you are experiencing any COVID symptoms or are otherwise unwell, we politely request that you stay home. We will happily provide COVID tests for anyone who needs one. We have immunocompromised loved ones who deserve to celebrate safely with us, too. Thank you for working with us to create as safe an environment as possible for all of us!
Short answer — no. For us, our wedding is an opportunity to let our community in on our love story. Your role as a guest is to be an accomplice to the well-being of our marriage — you’ll be the folks who hold us accountable to the vows we make to each other. For this reason, we are not extending invitations to folks we don’t know.
Salida sits at 7,000 feet above sea level. Guests coming from lower altitudes should be aware of the effects elevation can have on the body. Here are some tips for making a successful transition to higher altitudes: Drink water. And I mean gallons of it. In fact, start hydrating the week before you arrive. We recommend adding an extra 32oz of water to your daily intake for the few days before you enter Colorado Acclimate at lower elevations, if you can. If you’re coming from out of state, consider driving into Colorado from your home. Driving takes longer than flying and the extra time helps you acclimate to altitude changes more slowly. So you’re less likely to feel the affects when you finally arrive. If you do fly into Denver from closer to sea level, consider spending a day or two in the city before heading up to Salida. Go easy on the drinking. Alcohol hits you harder at elevation! Wear sunscreen. The air is thinner in Colorado so the sun’s rays have less atmosphere to pass through before they hit your skin. Even in October, a day outside without sun protection can leave you with a nasty sunburn. In addition, the sun can feel super intense, even if the air temperature isn’t very hot. It’s common for people to feel light headed or dizzy in intense direct sun. Pack plenty of layers. Day time temperatures that are mild/warm can drop quickly once the sun goes down.
Yes and no. We want you to feel comfortable and at home in your attire, but we also don't want you to feel out of place. Think mid-mod cocktail vibes -- black tie is overdoing it, a polo and khakis is underdoing it. Please no shorts or sport sandals. Otherwise, you do you!
The Salida Steam Plant does not have a dedicated parking lot, however there are two public parking lots near by and street parking is available throughout downtown. Salida is a very walkable town and the venue is approximately 1.5 miles from the hotel/motel strip.
Your kids are welcome to join the party but we will not be providing any special activities, meals or supervision for children. Children are not exempt from mask and vaccine requirements per COVID precautions unless medically necessary.
