We met the summer before Cristo Rey St. Viator opened. Cristina accepted a job as their first English teacher and Alex accepted a job as their first Spanish teacher. Cristina remembers that Alex was wearing a plaid button-down shirt and Alex remembers that when he found out that Cristina was older than him, he was bummed because he thought he had no chance. They became fast friends and would get drinks together after work sometimes. On Sundays, they attended mass at St. Viator parish and lesson planned for the week at a nearby coffee shop. When Alex originally accepted the job, he thought he'd be in Vegas for just one year and return to Chicago. He moved back to Chicago after three years with a fiancé and a baby - who would've thought!
