When Courtney and Danny met, she was a stressed high school math teacher and he was an overworked Army Staff Sergeant. Courtney had been on dating apps for several years, constantly searching for her happily ever after. Sure, she had a few boyfriends here and there, but that elusive red flag constantly got ignored. One evening, Danny was bored, and as he was getting a tattoo of playing cards with a banner that said LUCKY under it, he downloaded Hinge. He was hoping to swipe right and be LUCKY enough to get a match. Danny was very intrigued by Courtney's carefully crafted profile. Courtney went to high school in Virginia Beach, Danny in Hampton. Courtney loved traveling, Danny had just returned from living in Germany where he traveled all over Europe. Let's not forget how pretty she was, is, too! For their first date, after several cancellations and reschedules, the ever persistent Danny took Courtney to The Grove. This non-Austinite made a reservation in Bee Cave, super far from Killeen, and her North Austin apartment, but he didn’t seem to mind the drive. Little did he know, Courtney was hoping to cancel the date for reasons of completing lesson plans or helping her colleague across the hall. Fortunately for this future Mr. and Mrs., the colleague was in the copy room and thus was not able to allow Courtney to cancel. Danny really wanted to get Courtney flowers, but what flowers?! Roses are too generic, carnations are too cheap, and asking her was out of the question. So, Danny showed up with the biggest bunch of his favorite, tulips. He had actually read her Hinge profile that said she wanted someone to bring her flowers for no reason. Swoon! That was the best dinner the two of them ever had, and not for the food, or the entire bottle of wine they ordered (ask them who ordered it and you'll never hear the end of it), but for the company. That first dinner launched Courtney and Danny into a pattern of seeing each other every single day for a few weeks, until NTC, the Army equivalent of training for war. Danny was gone for four weeks, two of those being no communication weeks. It was in the quiet of the Mojave Desert that Danny realized he loved Courtney for the first time. Courtney was not quite there as Danny had wanted to be exclusive three days after meeting each other, but she quickly caught up when he opened the freshly bought pack of rice and emptied it into the container without being asked or prompted. That one hour drive from Killeen to Austin, Courtney's dramatic personality, career change, and her obsession with target didn’t stop him from showing up everyday. Don’t worry, there’s no red flags here, and Courtney is choosing to love him through his beige flag of packing the cooler wrong. Danny feels truly blessed and LUCKY to be marrying the girl of his dreams. We can't wait to celebrate our marriage together!!
