Explore Bucks County

The Wedding Website of Cory Lin Stieg and Allen Tate
Bucks County is where we both grew up, and as the song goes, we "compared all the same stories, discussed familiar territories." Now that we're jaded New Yorkers, we’ve come to cherish our town and all its charm and quirk, and we know you will, too. We recommend exploring downtown Doylestown before the big day — there are hip restaurants, unique shops, a decent bar scene, and some history and culture, too. It's just like Brooklyn! Whether you're here for the whole weekend or just the day, here are our favorite spots:
Mill Creek Elementary School

Mill Creek Elementary School

638 Bellflower Boulevard, Warrington, PA 18976
, (267) 893-3600

Visit the historic site where Allen Tate and Karl Lin Stieg starred as Harold Hill in "Meredith Willson's The Music Man, Jr.," and Cory first debuted her pigtails and Michigan sweatshirt lewk. (Just kidding, don't actually go here.)

Maxwell's On Main

Maxwell's On Main

37 North Main Street, Doylestown, PA 18901
, (215) 340-1880

Also known as "M.O.M.s," come here for craft beer, quirky cocktails, outdoor seating, and upscale bar food. The executive chef is from Brooklyn, so we approve.

The Hattery Stove and Still

The Hattery Stove and Still

18 West State Street, Doylestown, PA 18901
, (215) 345-1527

The restaurant inside the Doylestown Inn is a great choice for a big New York City brunch for a Doylestown price. (They also serve takeout.) Looking for a chill bar to hang? The Hattery has some fun cocktails, plus 14 beers on tap.

Pag's Pub

Pag's Pub

72 West State Street, Doylestown, PA 18901
, (215) 348-9600

Beer and whiskey snobs, come through. There are 24 different drafts on tap, and more than 50 whiskeys — you can even get a flight of whiskeys if you can't choose one. Bar snacks and breakfast foods available.

Spuntino Wood Fired Pizzeria

Spuntino Wood Fired Pizzeria

22 South Main Street, Doylestown, PA 18901
, (215) 340-7660

Insanely good quick-fired personal pizzas under $15. Stop in for lunch and then bop around Doylestown.

Wawa

Wawa

339 South Main Street, Doylestown, PA 18901
, (215) 345-4160

Informal studies suggest that Wawa tastes better after midnight. It's more than just a convenience store, it's the local fare. Grab a hoagie, Tastykake, or soft pretzel. (Rest assured there are Wawa locations all over the 215 area.)

Empanada Mama

Empanada Mama

21 Donaldson Street, Doylestown, PA 18901
, (215) 230-3330

Grab a few empanadas to tide you over before dinner. (Better yet, save them for late-night munchies.) You can't go wrong with any of the options, but the Korean beef is pretty excellent.

Bagel Barrel

Bagel Barrel

60 West State Street, Doylestown, PA 18901
, (215) 348-8280

Bagels legit enough for New York City snobs right in downtown Doylestown. There's usually a line, so be willing to wait for it.

Borough Bagels

Borough Bagels

132 Veterans Lane, Doylestown, PA 18901
, (267) 454-7258

Another bagel spot to consider. What it lacks in small-town charm it makes up for with La Colombe coffee and Seamless.

Annie's Water Ice

Annie's Water Ice

187 South Clinton Street, Doylestown, PA 18901
, (215) 230-3350

Get thee to Annie's for some iconic Philly wooder ice. Expert order: black cherry gelati. If the line is too long, the chain Rita's Water Ice is also delightful and there are several locations nearby.

Nina’s Waffles and Sweets

Nina’s Waffles and Sweets

30 East State Street, Doylestown, PA 18901
, (267) 454-7294

Waffles, ice cream, and ice cream on waffles if you dare.

Nonno's Italian Coffee Parlor

Nonno's Italian Coffee Parlor

6 East State Street, Doylestown, PA 18901
, (215) 348-1111

The coffee and ice cream shop where Cory worked in high school is now an Italian coffee parlor that serves espresso drinks and gelato. Allora!

Doylestown Farmers Market

Doylestown Farmers Market

2-50 South Hamilton Street, Doylestown, PA 18901
, (215) 621-8967

Take a leisurely stroll through the Doylestown Farmer's Market if you're in town. It's open Saturday from 8 am to 1 pm.

Pearl S. Buck House National Historic Landmark

Pearl S. Buck House National Historic Landmark

520 Dublin Road, Perkasie, PA 18944
, (215) 249-0100

See the home of Pearl S. Buck and her family — including the typewriter she used to write "The Good Earth."

Peace Valley Park

Peace Valley Park

230 Creek Road, Doylestown, PA 18901
, (215) 822-8608

Peace Valley Park is about a 15-minute drive from downtown Doylestown. There are plenty of trails for hiking or running, and you can also rent boats to take out on Lake Galena. Peaceful, huh?

County Theater

County Theater

20 East State Street, Doylestown, PA 18901
, (215) 345-6789

Doylestown's iconic art deco movie theater plays mostly independent, art, and foreign films.

Mercer Museum

Mercer Museum

84 South Pine Street, Doylestown, PA 18901
, (215) 345-0210

What's this concrete castle doing in Doylestown? Great question. Go explore Henry Mercer's home and collection of over 50,000 pre-Industrial tools to find out.
