It was a bold icebreaker: "Were you the lead in the school musical in sixth grade?" The year was 2011, and we had both mistakenly enrolled in a journalism law and ethics class at NYU. Cory was a dance major, and Allen studied philosophy. On the first day, we were going around the classroom making introductions, when Cory realized that the "Allen Tate from outside of Philly" in the seat next to her must be the same one who went to Mill Creek Elementary with her in the early aughts. As fate would have it, in 2002, Allen was Harold Hill in "Meredith Willson's The Music Man, Jr." Cory's brother, Karl, played the same part in the opposite cast. (Real groupies never forget.) Things got even weirder when we realized that we grew up a traffic light away, and both attended neighboring private high schools before moving to the Village to go to NYU. How we were eventually sitting next to each other at a school with 30,000 other undergrad students is beyond our comprehension. We're so excited to get married — and Mookie is elated. Hope to see you in June 2021, back in Bucks County where it all began.
