Welcome to the DMV! (DC, Maryland, Virginia) We've listed a few of our favorite (less well known) points of interest around the area. However, if this is your first time in the DMV we would also encourage you to visit some of the area staples (e.g., National Mall, Shenandoah National Park). Many areas in DC are accessible via the DC metro. SmartTrip cards are available at the entrance of all metro stations. The DMV is highly populated. If you plan on trying out popular restaurants in the area for dinner, we suggest making a reservation at least couple days in advance.

Hirshhorn Museum

This art museum and sculpture garden is full of interesting exhibits. Entry to all Smithsonian museums is free, but some special museum exhibits require timed entry passes.

Fontaine is one of our favorite brunch spots in Old Town Alexandria. On top of delicious crepes, this cute French cafe offers outdoor seating where you can take in the sights and sounds of the old historic district.

Great Falls

For those who are up for a light hiking adventure, we suggest checking out Great Falls. We suggest going early in the morning (7am - 8am). Parking at the visitor center is limited and fills up quickly. There are many hikes of various difficulty levels around the area of Great Falls. The app All Trails is a great way to look into hiking trails in the area.

The history galleries at the National Museum of African American History are exceptionally well done. Entry is free, but tickets book up months in advance. So get your tickets early!

Skyline Drive

Skyline Drive, Front Royal, VA

Looking to take in the breathtaking scenery of the Blue Ridge Mountains? We recommend a self-guided driving tour of Skyline Drive. The listed location is tagged to the top of Skyline Drive. The route ends closer to Charlottesville. There are many overlooks along the route. A National Park Pass is required to enter the park. Passes can be purchased at the entry gate on the day of.

Blues Alley Club

Get your snapping fingers ready! The jazz club Blues Alley has been in operating out of an old carriage house in George Town since 1965. This venue has everything you would want in a jazz night experience: an intimate, moody setting, talented musicians, and amazing food! Tickets should be bought at least a few days in advance. Given the small space, more popular shows sell out a few weeks in advance.

International Spy Museum

The Spy Museum is very close to the National Mall and houses multiple interactive exhibits where you can learn about international people of mystery throughout history.

Devils Backbone Brewing Company - Outpost Tap Room & Kitchen

This is a local brewery near the venue if you are looking for somewhere chill to hang out before the wedding.
