One doesn’t expect to find true love waiting for them on the front stoop but apparently that’s what destiny had in store for Kelsey and Colin one hot summer night. Colin had come to hang out with his buddy and found him chatting with neighbors on the patio. At some point during the following conversation Colin managed to impress Kelsey enough that she was inspired to throw her flip-flop at his head (who throws a shoe?). Being the nice guy that he is, he gathered the footwear and returned it to her so she could throw it at him yet again later in the conversation: at which point he obligingly returned it. Inexplicably, Kelsey was intrigued by the guy with the inappropriate humor. A few months would pass before Kelsey had another chance to throw her shoe at Colin but this time the interaction was more civil and a pleasant time was had by all. Kelsey and Colin continued their (mostly) civil conversations, many of which were conducted on the stoop late into the night. They found that they had much in common and they were soon looking forward to spending all of their free time together. It was a sign that things might be getting serious when Colin was deemed worthy of an introduction to Scarlett. Many Lincoln Log cabins later, Scarlett decided that "Colin with the curly hair" was allowed to come back. The unexpected seriousness of this connection was clear when Colin jetted off to Europe for a month only to find that he wanted to spend nearly every night talking to Kelsey. The deal was sealed when they spent a cozy week in Ohio over Christmas. Given that the beach was Kelsey’s happy place, Colin bought a ring knowing that they would soon go to Florida where he might find the right time to propose.

Although neither Kelsey nor Colin is big on pomp and circumstance, they realized that a wedding would be the only time when they could realistically expect to drag all their loved ones to the same spot at the same time. What better excuse than a beach wedding to throw off your shoes and join them in their happy place!
