The dress code for the wedding on Saturday is summer formal. The dress code for the after party on Sunday is casual.
Children are not invited to the ceremony and reception due to capacity limitations. However, children are more than welcome to travel and stay at the Dingle Skellig Hotel or another hotel / bed & breakfast. There are a number of babysitters for hire in the Dingle area, with a lot of experience babysitting children at the Dingle Skellig Hotel. If you need further information about babysitting services, please contact Cody or Erica. If you are traveling with children, please ensure any room you reserve allows children in that particular room - not all rooms allow children. Children are invited to the afters on Sunday.
The weather in Ireland is difficult to predict, but it rains a lot even in the summer. A day that is forecasted to be sunny all day could turn stormy quickly. The high temperature for the weekend is likely to be in the mid-high 60s, with lows being in the mid-50s. We recommend coming prepared and bringing rain jackets for the weekend. It is possible that we will get beautiful weather days, but it is best to be prepared for all weather possibilities!
The wedding ceremony will be outdoors, weather permitting. The reception will be indoors. The afters will be at a pub with indoor and outdoor seating.
Passport application volumes in the U.S. have been much higher than normal over the last couple of years. There are various stories of people waiting up to 4 months to receive their passport after submitting their application. Please give yourself ample time and submit your application for a new or renewed passport as soon as possible.
Dingle is a very popular summer travel destination in Ireland, both for locals and foreign travelers. It is unlikely that the Dingle Skellig Hotel will accommodate everyone. If you would like to stay at the Dingle Skellig Hotel, we recommend booking your room early. We have also provided a number of other options on the Travel section of out website. There are also a number of other bed & breakfasts in addition to those we've listed. Dingle is a very walkable town and many of the hotels and bed & breakfast stays are easily walkable.
Please refer to the Travel section of our website. The main two options are Shannon airport and Dublin airport. Rental cars are available from both airports to get to Dingle.
For American citizens, visas have not been required in the past to travel to countries in the EU, a passport has sufficed. But recently it was announced that visas will be required for US citizens, prior to traveling, starting in 2024. The article below provides some background. We'll continue monitoring this up to the wedding date. As of now, it is unclear when exactly in 2024 the process will start - some seem to think it will start January 1, 2024. It does appear however that visas will only be required for countries in the Schengen Area (mainly mainland Europe, and Norway, Finland, Sweden, and Iceland). Ireland is not in the Schengen Area. So, you may be able to travel to Ireland for the wedding without needing a visa, but if you wanted to travel other places in Europe before or after the wedding, you may need a visa to travel there. It does seem like the visa process will be quick and easy when it launches for US citizens, it will need to be completed prior to traveling, and it will cost 7-8 euro. https://www.yahoo.com/news/americans-need-visa-visit-europe-next-year-what-to-know-162232841.html
